Professor Jiong Zao ZHENG studied under the tutorship of Mr. Umehara Ryuzaburo at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He had been a professor at the Fine Arts Academy of the Tsinghua University in China for 34 years. He is a member of both the China Artists Association and the Japan Artists Association. He is Head of the Akebono Painting Research Institute in Tokyo, Japan, and has been teaching painting in Tokyo since his return in the mid-1980s.
His paintings have been separately exhibited at the Taiwan Arts Exhibition, the Japan Arts Exhibition (NITEN), the China Arts Exhibition, the Beijing Arts Exhibition and at arts exhibitions in London. He has held more than 30 exhibitions of his own works in Beijing, Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Osaka and Nagasaki in Japan, and was responsible for holding 35 Akebono Art Exhibitions in Tokyo.
His works were also published in 14 different painting albums in Japan and China. Since 2009 he has received 4 excellence certificates from China's Ministry of Culture, and other cultural and artistic centres.
The art of painting is a symbol of beautiful human aspirations. Through my father's work, I would like to send his best wishes to you all, and hope his beautiful artistry can continue to touch the hearts of more viewers like he has been touched by the flowers, landscapes and spectacular ancient buildings which inspired his creativity.
