“Two mature friends of mine were getting married, so I wanted something elegant and classy and this fitted the bill perfectly. It has no 'religious' theme, so it has a universality which appealed to me.
The wording inside was lovely, I just added my own addendum and it came securely packaged as always and looked spectacular. I was delighted to give it.”

“It was great to find cards addressed to Mimi and Meme, as not everyone is called Grandma these days. Thank you!”
You work very hard during the year and that means you deserve a holiday. Actually, you get more than a single day. You get an entire three day weekend although we only celebrate that particular single day...a Monday in September which allows you to take a little break, relax, and reflect on all your hard work performed throughout the year.
And you do need the rest because in a few short weeks, you will need to earn a little overtime for all those holiday weekend expenses!
In all seriousness, Labor Day is a truly quintessential American holiday. The holiday was first celebrated in 1878 and the very first Labor Day took place on August 26th in Boston. Curiously, the trade union that sponsored the holiday was located in New York.
The holiday did not become a national holiday until 1894 when Grover Cleveland signed it into law. The reason for doing so was actually quite ominous. Many laborers were involved in strike clashes with the military. Cleveland's acknowledgment of a labor holiday was designed to help placate the unrest.
Over time, the origins of Labor have become somewhat overlooked and now it is a holiday that celebrates the end of summer. The holiday is now celebrated on the first weekend of September and it is quite a festive occasion known for food, drink, good times, and, of course, watching sporting events.
It can also be a fine holiday to send greeting cards to those that work quite hard all year. There is far more diversity to Labor Day greeting cards than most realize. There are scores of different illustrative images which are presented on the cards. Labor Day cards are great for both friends and family and, of course, your fellow workers or subordinates. You can certainly find an excellent card which will certainly prove appealing to the recipient.
