The Nepali countryside is sprinkled by thousands of small villages such as this one, perched upon steep hillsides where subsistence farmers have long ago carved terraces by hand to grow various crops such as mustard for greens and oil, millet, rice, cauliflower, corn, and potatoes. Most of these villages are now served by limited electricity, cell phone coverage, and public bus services (if the village is along a "road", but lack other important infrastructure such as safe drinking water, sewage systems, and trash disposal services.
