Severe Expressions are mostly black and white drawings of individuals with expressions that are sometimes extreme, harsh, or even a little disturbing and certainly never pretty. They are for the individual whose sense of humor is a little off-the-wall.
About Me: A number of years ago I deserted the dream of being able to draw life-like pictures of people as each attempt ended up a hideous representation of the unfortunate subject. For a time I focused on the rendering of invented creatures whose finished portraits could only be enhanced by my inibility to draw "nice". Returning to human subjects, I eventually came to be curious and amused at the outcome rather than disappointed. Family and friends are often the subjects of my cards as is the case of the Sorry Fellow who is my brother, a NY cinematographer who requested the card after he accidentally thunked a rather well known actress on the head with his camera. Other cards have characters like the Party Couple. I have no clue as to their identity or how they ended up at the end of my pen. With the shameless encouragement of my family and friends, I continue to add to the collection.
My Interests: bike riding, gardening, wood working, playing with our Cairn Terriers, Garrr and Poe, who are 90% cutie pies and 10% demons
