About Me:  John Echtermeyer was born and raised in South Philadelphia, and settled down in South Jersey to begin a family with his wife, Rita. They have been married for 65 years, and through those years have traveled to many places. His travels have produced many beautiful sketches and drawings. John began his study of art 70 years ago with correspondence studies at ICS and Washington Art School. However, his endeaveros were interrupted by Worl War II. John served in General Patton's 3rd army, traveling to France and Germany, and sketching whenever time permitted. After the war, he expanded his talent even further by studying with D.M. Compagna of Chicago, and attending Fletcher Art memorial in Philadelphia. Seventy years of study, practice, and experimentation, John hits his mark with these most recent pen & ink creations. His artistic feats are remarkable given his health conditions. At 90 years old, John suffers from Parkinson's disease and prostate cancer, as well as many other dipilitating illnesses that plague men of his age. It is a wonder that he can even write his own name, let alone produce these latest works of art. In South Jersey, he has shown two one-man shows, and many charities have propered by the sale of his donated works. John's story as well as his spirit and talent, gives inspiration and joy to many.
