This card depicts a Blue Damsel Fly drawn from a photograph taken while it was resting on a reed, by my garden pond, while recovering from hunting. The Damsel Fly is numerous in the UK and bothe the common blue and red ones can be found frequenting ponds and lakes during the summer months. Although found in the same locations as the Dragonfly they are quite different, being smaller in girth and folding their wings backwards when at rest (the Dragon fly’s wings are at right angles to its body when at rest).
