A Red Egg & Ginger Party is a traditional Chinese celebration to introduce a 1 month old baby to family and friends. Infant mortality rates were high in ancient times, and the celebration of a new arrival was held only after a month had passed when baby was deemed to be healthy and safe. The color red denotes luck, and the heat of the ginger is to help the new mom bring her body back into balance after the birth. This design shows teddy sitting to the back of a bowl of red dyed boiled eggs and a plate of pickled ginger. Beside the plate is a pacifier. The images are held within a bright red border embellished in the corners with a bottle of formula and alphabet blocks.
