Artist Notes:
Illustration of nin gou, the glutinous rice cake traditionally eaten during Chinese new year. It is considered good luck to eat nin gou during the new year because 'nin gou' is a homonym for 'higher year', an implication of promotions or better prosperity year after year. Both nin gou featured in this design is drawn differently, one in profile and the other colored in. To the right is the Chinese character for luck, placed in a yellow transparent frame and written upside down to symbolize luck coming in. The design is completed at the bottom edge of the card with a patterned banner in different shades of yellow, orange and brown. © Cisillia Tay Designs.
