Store Publicity

What is the best way to advertise your store to others? Is there a specific way to let more people know about your store besides just friends and family? Roll Eyes

Hi YES! There is alot more you can do as an artist! VERYONE YOU MEET ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN YOU TELL THEM ABOUT GCU and be excited!  Wink
I personally sent out cards with my images to EVERYONE I know relatives or otherwise...if they have a card in hand they are more likely to visit your store ( and others) I really feel this made a huge difference as I am getting very positive feedback and sales!!!!!!! I sent the cards out as if i have given birth so they were ANNOUNCMENTS! It makes it more personal and INCLUDES the person you sent it to as they can choose an image and use their own words and names etc so make sure you let them know that! If you have aqaintences that do not normally send cards they will now at least that is my experiance so far!
I am just new here but in the time I have been on here (less than 20 days) I have sold cards and had over a hundred hits on my store site...
I am thinking of printing up business cards and including the GCU website store address ... you should too...it helps us all Cool

Linda made some great suggestions.   One thing I do is advertised GCU on my own web site where I have my photography on display.   Another, is that I use my cards myself for birthdays, occasions, etc.  Now with our credits nicely displayed on the back of the cards, this will certainly help spread the word about our shops.

Another simple idea is to put your GCU url and possibly your site picture as a signature on your e-mails.  It is a general check mark I can turn on or off on my e-mail.  I keep it on all of the time and my information shows on all of my e-mails.  It is great for forwards too.  You know how far those internet jokes, stories, warnings, etc. get!! It is a simple reminder also for people I email regularly.  Nothing has to be mentioned - it is just a subtle and constant reminder.  With a simple click on the link they can check out what's new!!

Reading this gave me an idea!!!

Especially for the Newbees like myself.

Take one of your favorite images, and design an announcement.

Announcing the opening of your Greeting Card store.

Send it to whoever you want.

Since I sell ACEO's on Ebay and ETSY, I'm thinking of creating a thank you card combined announcement with every ACEO I send out.

Off to the drawing board.

I hope someone will come along to answer!

Along the lines of designing a thank you/announcement card, which will include information that is valuable only to myself.  (link to my GCU shop, web site etc.)
Would I just create the card as normal, and would it be approved? (since it would not be of value to anyone else)  or is there another channel to create cards suitable only to yourself?

Thanks in advance.

That's a great idea, Myrna. What you would do is make it a private card. There's a check box for this when you create your card. Then it goes into the private section of your store and isn't seen by anyone else unless you've made a link to this available in your store set up.

Some really good ideas ladies.  Sandra I'm especially interested in yours, [how do you do this? I use yahoo] my buddies from work and my old military buddies, we all keep in touch by e-mail.  I know we men don't buy cards, but their wifes might take a peek.

Norval,
I'm not sure if this works on all e-mails, but this is what many companies do on all of their correspondence.  Let me know you can find this signature area.

With your e-mail inbox open in general, Mail is listed at the top of the bar - go to the top bar, ( I use Safari)  click on Mail, then Preferences. AT the top you will find signatures.  When I click on that, it allows me two different signatures.  I can drop in whatever pic I want with the choose option, or type in my URL, name or whatever I want.  When I send an e-mail, this "signature" will be seen - or I can choose to check it off or just select and delete it if I don't want it on an e-mail.

Let me know if it works for you!

Norval, the preferences is when you are starting to send a regular e-mail, not the GCU site. See if you find it that way.
