"So although artist reviewers are involved in the initial decision there is a second set of eyes to make sure the decision is accurate and fair.  Also the aritsts that are on the review team are very committed to making the most of your cards for your benefit and GCU's benefit.  They are impartial, objective and fair minded.  Efforts to eliminate their competition is non-existent and if exhibited would not be tolerated. "

Hi Mindy,

For a while I got the same feeling as well, thank you for clarifying it Mindy.
I e-mailed your office  few weeks ago asking for your assistance  with similar problem and never received reply.
Below is copy of e-mail hope you can assist me.
______________

"Hello Shaun,

Hope you are doing well, I need your help ( I don't know if okay to email you or post this on forum-please advise)
I would like some help on this cards,   this design  is one of my top seller cards;

Product ID: 859487
Product ID: 859486
Product ID: 859492

according the the reviewer" The orange flower with butterfly is blurry and has overexposed color. There is too much mulch, and the mushrooms look out of place in this image."

This image has been approved before with proactive sales; I'm updating with age numbers.
The "mushrooms look out " is what it gives this design the whimsical appeal.

Now based on this images  the mulch, dog and tulips is an actual pictures,  this is how my  garden is,  and the orange butterfly and flowers are natural  colors  from my original  photo taken in costa rica, those are the natural colors, no filters or flash used; I have actually printed this orange  flower and butterfly in a Costo poster size ( way larger than this design will  be print in your store) The posted looks  really well is I might say.

Now the out of place mushroom.. i believe that comment is a "personal liking of a particular design or not"  when the sales on this  card had shown otherwise.

"FROZEN in Limbo" - pending status: Shocked
On the other hand I have in my gallery a card on pending status for over a year - with no response or answer of any sort:

Product Id: 200774
Status: Pending-Resubmitted

Hope you can assist or direct me where I can find help.
Thank you for your  time & help.

Feel free to call

Hello Ines,

I'm sorry to hear you never received a response to your email. Do you remember which email you sent that to? Although Shaun wears many "hats" here Mindy and or the review team is best to direct these types of questions.  Wink I will bring this to their attention to have another look.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Kindest regards,

KC

Thank you Mindy for getting these approved!

And thank you to the artists that replied back and for your support , I think you have all experienced this situation at some point.

I know it is a tough job to review the large quantities of cards that come in.  I just think it is a bit much when a little blade of grass or leaf gets in the way of your cards being approved.  When you photograph nature there are going to be different colors and textures in the shot and yes a leaf or petal, that is what makes it interesting and beautiful.  A buyer is going to buy my card in question because of the dog especially if they are buying it for a pug lover who will smile when they see the dog.   The recipient will not care about or notice a small leaf on the side! I think GCU loses out on a lot of wonderful designs because artists get frustrated with the review process and do like I have been doing for a while now, rather than emailing back and forth about why and how, I just delete the cards and work on new cards.

I will keep plugging along!
The approval time seems to have improved  , happy about that. Smiley

Am glad to see the pug card went through - I think it's totally fab!

I was a little alarmed to find that when I clicked on a link in this thread - I think on Mary's (?) - it took me into her bit that I shouldn't have access to.

Jus sayin

Gorgeous photo, the out of focus bit really adds to the whole thing. I too have been having troubles with these things.

Reason being lighting problems, and garland lacks focus?
Would like your feed back..I have had others passed with this image, only darker.

..Thanks Mary

Hi Mary,

I noticed you didn't get any feedback on the card you posted.  So thought I'd offer a little based on what I could see in your link.  The garland really lacks contrast and tonal values which translates into lighting problems and lack of depth in the image.  There is no vibrancy in the color and tones which causes a lack of contrast.  I can't speak to the focus issue because the link providing doesn't allow me to get a larger view.

Hope that is helpful  Wink

Thanks Doreen. I wonder if Mindy or someone from GCU would be kind enough to remove my post?

I didn't realize that there were fellow artists on the card review team.  Huh I think they do a great job, just wasn't aware of this. Seriously out of the loop, lol.

I think they've always been fellow artists since the day GCU opened their doors.  I don't know that for a fact, but I think I remember reading something a couple years ago that stated this.

i would not be surprised--like I said, I'm seriously out of the loop  Smiley tho if there were fellow artists from the beginning, how did a new company know the artists would be competition-friendly, etc...And to be clear, I have not had ANY problems, I'm just wondering??

GCU took off pretty fast.  The need for more reviewers arose.  Seems like I recall something put  in the forum for fellow artists or an email to respond to, to apply for reviewer jobs.  I was even interested at one time.  But they didn't hire me Tongue

It makes sense and I was not spending time in the forum early on, or even until the last few months-so I missed a lot of things by not checking in  Sad  I was just surprised. I get into trouble with categories on a regular basis, so I know they're patient,  Grin
