Hi Websprinter...do you have a first name? Grin

I think you're right. I was going to start a new thread about it, but saw this one and tacked it on...but it would be better alone. I will do a search first and see if there is something like that in the forum first.

Thanks, Avis Smiley

Hi Avis,

My name is Nancy Hepner. Maybe I'll have it changed back.

If you find a thread for Facebook pages, you are a better man than I.  Cool I can't even find a How-To page on the Facebook forum!  Shocked

Hi Avis,

I am much like you, only I started a Personal Page before Fan Pages/Business Pages were available.  Thinking I was doing it for business, but quickly felt as you did...more nonsense than not.  I have sense created my Fan Page and that is growing weekly.

If you really want to know what your gains are by having a Fan Page you'll need to include many tracking devices, which I haven't the time for...What I will say is this...The more BACKLINKS you create on the internet, the more likely you are to move up in ranking and be found, which does ultimate result in more sales.  Having a Fan Page allows you to have that RSS feed on GCU, Zazzle and any other sites you have which creates wonderful backlinks and lets the web crawlers and search engines know you are one of the few who keeps your sites active so you gain rankings.

You do need to have content on your Fan Page, so think about that before you step into it.  If you don't have much to offer, people will not follow you.  By that I mean, something in addition to just posting your sales.  I personally am very glad I stuck with it, because it is paying off now and I nearly turned mine off too  Wink

I just realized I had a "Fan Page"   http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ernestine-Grindal/123307678221?ref=ts
separate from my 'regular' Facebook page.  http://www.facebook.com/ernestine.grindal
I don't even really remember creating it.  I've been on FB for over 4 years and I do vaguely remember Fan pages being introduced.  Anyway, this question is for Doreen:  What should i do with this page?  I can't seem to delete it and I can't seem to post to it either (everything goes automatically to original page)  Sitting there with no content isn't good either - and I have no fans anyway on my fan page  Sad

I suppose it would be good to have a "fan" page where I just dealt with art sales, whereas on my regular page I've been more into government issues lately than art - and there could well be people out there that like my art but not my politics!!

Hi 'e'!

Well, you can't use the Facebook icons to post on your Fan Page, it will always default to your personal page (unless perhaps you change your posting status).  So grab the LINK code from GCU Sell This Card (the top box not the bottom one), or from one of your Zazzle, Redbubble or any other site and paste it into the LINK on a new post...then write something about it.

Go to this page's admin and fill out links to your other sites and info as you would if it was a business page.  Change you photo to a logo if you like.

That should keep you busy awhile  Grin Grin Grin

p.s.  Once you get I think it's 25 fans, you can change the URL to www.facebook.com/your business name like mine:
http://www.facebook.com/SalonOfArt

This makes it great and easy for people to find you and for you to link to if the RSS feed link is too much.
