I've only done one book so far....I'd love to do more with more time..I loved to do this one book.

I liked using Blurb...it was so easy to use although I didn't use any of their templates but made my own to suit my book.

Their books are great quality and they have all the same options like ebooks etc.

Published a calendar there a couple of years ago - just to give as gifts for friends and business associates. I was very impressed with the quality.
I too did all the layouts and design myself - cost me nothing other than the printing and shipping.
I have priced them out against other similar companies and they were competitive. That year they were less per copy than Snapfish or Vista or other companies.
Think it's great to be able to tie into Amazon - that really opens up the field!
I would totally do it again.

Thank you both Lj and Susan  Smiley

The artists in that egg book do some fantastic work, they truly are talented with their egging.

I started a new book a while back but got side tracked...I might just have to get back to it soon.  Cheesy

I'm working on putting together a collection of short stories and I'm considering Lulu for a publisher. Has anyone else published a book with Lulu? Is the process fairly simple? How was the quality?

I published my book with them. You can see it on my store. If you click on it it will take you to it and you can view every page. I bought six copies of my book and I was very impressed with the quality of it. I am fixing to start a new book soon. So far, they are the best I have found. There is also wordclay - http://www.wordclay.com/Default.aspx which I have yet to try. The way I see it though, if you are happy with something, why change?  Huh

I can't see it on your store Rebecca. Your store also takes a very long time to load with the music panel and even when it finishes loading it gives a message saying ...Due to licensing restrictions, some or all
tracks may be unavailable for playback in your country. Wonder how many people get that message?  Huh
In my case none where available.

Just thought I'd give you a bit of feedback.  Smiley

Cheryl

Edit: I found the book, seems it only half loaded the panel on your page so I didn't know that was the book. Perhaps because there is so much to load on your page?

And....now that I am on the Lulu site I can't get the preview of your book to work. Page 1 shows blank and won't move to the other pages. Not having much luck here.  undecided

Maybe it's just me? If anyone else wants to take a look it's here. http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/my-pomeranian-and-me/13506278

You have to give it some time to load, it is just slow. That is Lulu's preview for you.  Tongue

Give it about 2 min.

Thank you very much, Cheryl. I am glad you took the time to look at my work. I truly appreciate it. I really enjoyed writing it.

I plan to do a children's book and a book of poetry next. Maybe even a book on self-publishing your first book.

I also did two photo books at Lulu, but I have yet to order copies of them. You can see them here:

http://www.lulu.com/product/lulustudio-photo-book/florescence-volume-ii/4862687

Remember to give the preview about two minutes to load.

I published a book with Trafford Publishing and paid out about $1,500.00 to do so, but was not at all impressed with the cover or cover's layout that they did for my book. Neither was anyone else I guess because that was back in 2008 and I have yet to sell the first copy. They keep hounding me wanting me to spend out even more money to help me promote my book, but I keep telling them that I am not spending anymore on that book until I sell some of them. It was my first book and a good true story, but a big disappointment. I will never publish another book with them. Not when there are so many places that you can do it for free and the quality is so much better.

Here is the Ebook version of that book that I myself put on Lulu. The preview only goes to the 19th book page. I didn't want to give away the ending hoping this may promote people to download it to hear the rest of the story. This preview is extremely slow to load so give it 3-5 minutes. I don't know why it is slower than the others, but it is.
