When I go to book signings, the shop I go to sets it up so that the page signed is the first title page - not the end papers.

Yes the first title is where I sign when I do signings. I just had one tonight and it went really well!
Cheers,
Steve

Cathy,

Yes, Susan is right!  I sell first edition and collecable books on Ebay and signed editions are usually always the title page.  My brain ihas gone balnk, but often times collectors at signings will use an authors autographed card and for the life of me, can't remember what that is called.  But the collector will insert that in the book instead of having an author actually sign the book itself.

Congratulations on your book!  You've reserved copies for your GCU family I'm sure.   Wink

Best always, Randy

Randy, any idea where I could learn more about an autograph card?

My writing is so bad, it sounds like a better idea. That is if you do it ahead.

If there is a picture of me in the book, I always sign it there.

Basically, an autograph card is just a business card sized card that you sign. You can find them here:

White - http://www.amazon.com/Avery-Small-Cards-Inches-White/dp/B0013CE9S8/ref=sr_1_6?s= office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1300614024&sr=1-6

They are called autograph cards, signature cards, or tent cards. Basically they are just business cards.

Randy,
I think the phrase you were looking for is 'Signed Bookplate.'

Congratulations to all you 'published' authors!   I am trying to recruit an agent for my Mystery Novel.  (Perhaps a more difficult task than writing the manuscript itself...) If anyone knows of a good one who is not frightened of a 'new author,' I'd appreciate the tip.
Thanks!

You can find those here: http://www.myownlabels.com/bookplates/

http://www.felixdoolittle.com/web/product_bp2.aspx?gclid=CPD2msL93acCFcK77QodiEE 6-w (These are very nice.)

http://www.amazon.com/OnlineLabels-com%C2%AE-Bookplate-Diskette-Labels-Printers/ dp/B003BKENSQ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1300652735&sr=1-6 (You can create your own designs with these.)

These are basically stickers that you create and sign to stick in your books. They can be as unique as you want them to be.

I will check on that for you. I have a friend who knows a lot about agents and editors. She is the author of "Writer Mama" (Christina Katz). Maybe she will know someone. You could also try looking in the Writer's Digest Magazine. They always have classifieds in the back for agents and editors who are looking for clients.

I will let you know what I find out.
