Customization system
Mar 7th, 2011, 7:39pm

I was recently wondering what had happened to this topic:

http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/forum/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1283546603/1#1

We've had some wonderful improvements and upgrades in the last few months, 't is true, and I am most grateful for those. I was asking myself not long ago, however, if the discussion above might not be revived in the near future. I've had some excellent experiences with customizing cards and some not-so-excellent ones (read: much ado about nothing) and would be delighted, as I am sure many or most in this community would be if this idea went forward. The problem seems to keep cropping up, no matter how well it's handled by the designers...

Did I mention how happy I am with all the great new features?

Many thanks, as always!

Sorry about that - I kept checking (extra opened windows) to make sure it had posted (or not) and only saw the one post. I agree that it would be good if that error were fixed; I had no idea that a message would go out if the post itself failed.

It's not your fault Joan!

I will say though, I've never had it not post and having a separate window is okay, but you have to refresh that window in order to see if the post took or not.

You'd think the Forum Folks would fix it after months and months though  Grin

I thought perhaps I could resuscitate this, as my attempt in this thread went off in another direction, and I still believe it's a discussion worth continuing...

In an effort to secure a stronger up front commitment from requesting shoppers with our Custom Request process we'd like to get your feedback on the following ideas for a Custom Work Fee:

1. GCU would no longer advertise that custom requests are FREE but "may be an additional charge"
2. artists can charge a custom work fee or not based on each request
3. on a request by request basis artists choose among 5 preset fee charges ($5, $10, $15, $25, $50)
4. artists communicate these charges to the requesting shopper which should be done up front (before work is started) once the scope of the request is understood
5. custom work fees would be IN ADDITION to their card purchase - not a credit towards the final sale
6. GCU will notify artists when the custom fee has been paid (sales notification email)
7. custom work fee will be split 25/75 between GCU & artist and will be reported & paid as usual in quarterly earnings

Your thoughts?

(followed by many comments/suggestions/reactions/ideas in above link)
I know there has been a great deal happening on the site, but I am so eager to hear if this notion has a future here, in some form. I hope so!
