New spell checker
Jan 25th, 2011, 2:41pm

I'm sure that the new spell checker is going to be a great tool for everyone,    however, today I am having great problems with it. As I add the title and keywords to my cards I keep getting this error message. 'There was a problem with this request'.

It seems to be OK if I type VERY slowly, but at my normal speed, I get the error message.

No problem, you just need to know it's happening.  Smiley I'm using Firefox.

Thank you for the feedback.

We're having trouble reproducing the fast-type-ahead error.   Any assistance in helping us reproduce the problem in a consistent manner, would be greatly appreciated.    We've only seen this problem with Firefox browser so far, so make sure you provide your browser type and version if you report anything.

Here is some background on the new spell check tool.   We've been searching for a tool that would allow you to spell check all input fields.   Also one that would be more proactive in prompting when it notices spelling mistakes.     This spell check module seems to fit the bill, but it may have some shortcomings.   If we're able to fix these issues, we'll keep this tool.    Otherwise, we'll have to revert back to the old spelling tool.

Please report any MAJOR problems with this new tool.    More importantly, specific instructions on how to reproduce the problem.    Also let us know if you're in favor of keeping it or reverting back to the old spelling tool.

Thank you for your help Smiley

Firefox here as well and similar problems, It needs to have capybara and meerkat added lol those really gave me probs today, the error seems to happen for me when I fast type the head, say, "Dad Birthday Card Meerkat" then go down  to the keywords it throws an error box up twice usually, but it's intermittent, it does not like it at all Smiley and I copy paste the header after the spellcheck, as it's the first bit of my keywords as well, it does not like that much either, another minor prob, if it decides to throw an error while you are going to chose your catagory the little box sits over them, but that is mostly my problem for being faster than it Tongue have a habbit of confusing things with speed typing haha, but that is a minor glitch and probably my own falt for not hitting ignore before choosing and being to fast.

Hope that helps and you can reproduce.

Firefox err verion 3.6 I think the latest one not 4 as it's in beta.

Saying that I love the spell check fine for me and they are only teenie gripes not big glitches that would cause you a lot of problems, I'd rather have it and work my way through than not, and it has not stoped me or slowed me down, so it's very minor

The problems we're having with multiple error messages are:

First, we always put "corrie kuipers" as a keyword, and that gives an error message that has to be clicked two or three times to get it to go away. Second, when making foreign language cards, again there are multiple error messages due to title/keyword(s) and artists notes in non-English. Very frustrating time yesterday trying to get cards uploaded because of this. Personally, we wish there was a way to disable this new spell checker function.

I'm using Firefox version 3.6.13.
I love the new spell checker if you can get it to work properly.

Had the same problem as Corrie for foreign language cards. Very annoying and frustrating.

Kept getting the error message, there was a problem with this request several times.

I'm on Firefox.

If I don't click "ignore" to all the spelling suggestions and go to select the category the ignore box still stay up and covers the boxes for the selection of categories that pop up.

Would be nice if we could have a choice to turn it off and those who want it can keep it on.

We've removed the new spell checker and are in the process of bringing back the old spell checker.   We'll have to revisit alternate solutions at a later time.

Thank you for all the feedback.   We tried, you responded, we listened Smiley

What a pity! cry
For me was a great tool and worked quite well. I use Internet Explorer.
I hope you come with some nice solution, like allowing the artist to switch it on or off for foreign languages, because I think this would expedite the review process.
