Doreen, how do you get both a business and personal FB? Do you have to have 2 email addresses? I know one place that I write for and one place that I create products for, automatically posts my work to my personal FB account and I wouldn't want them to get crossed up and start posting to the wrong one. So, how exactly would I go about all this without messing everything up? I would truly appreciate any help you could give me.

My Personal Account is here: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000481664538

Fan pages are great for your artwork--and personal pages are great for close friends and family.  If you'd like to advertise your work, your best bet is to set up your own fan page, http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/create.php

You can set up your blog to post to your fan page for art related items and such so not to worry about that--as well as adding a merch store or GCU app as well.  I hope this helps--please post your new fan page once you get it set up.  Smiley

Cool  Thanks for the invite Kerra!

I'm here:

http://www.facebook.com/nahepner

BTW, Where's the "add friend" button?  Roll Eyes

You won't see' add a friend' button on your own personal page.  If you set up your fan page:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/create.php

A 'like' button will show to anyone who already doesn't 'like' you page.

Well, I'm certainly not an expert so I'll tell you what happened with me.  If I post from another site, such as a GCU email of a sale and hit the FB button, it will post to my personal page not Fan page.  So, I'm guessing the answer to your question is not only a separate email, but a separate FB account.  My personal page was originally created as a Biz Page, only I didn't know what I was doing  Grin

The best thing to do is to check google for tutorials on this subject and I'm sure you'll find one with the answers you need.  The one thing I will say about FB is that I don't find it to be User Friendly Set up.  I'm very computer minded and figure most things out by myself, but FB still stumps me  Grin

Doreen, that's exactly what I did. I created it as a personal account because I use my real name on everything I create so that people can find me and everything I create really easy. I was new to FB and didn't know anything about it. I actually got my kids into it. My mother and sister talked me into using FB so they could talk to me and it came to me that it would be a great place to advertise my work as well. Back then, I didn't know anything about fan pages, but I did wonder why some FB users had like buttons and others had add as a friend buttons. I just now figured that one out. If adding a fan page to my personal account is going to cause my add a friend button to turn into a like button instead, I'm not sure I want to do that. The only thing that I have that is not under my real name is my kennel's website, my family's woodworking website, and my photography website. They all have their own email addresses and I could easily set up a business account for them on FB. My GCU store uses my last name and my zazzle account uses my nickname (Becky). These are the only two things that I don't have my true full name on. So, I don't know how a fan page can help someone like me who has all my work under my real name. What do you think? When you have a like button doesn't that mean that they can link to your page without your permission where as the add a friend button asks your permission? Other than that, what's the difference?  Huh

I did change my personal account's URL and told all my FB friends where they can go to change theirs. I love that idea!

Hi, Doreen--
Why is a Page a better solution than a personal account for artists, businesses, or brands?
Personal accounts are optimized for individuals, not artists, business...
Personal accounts are optimized for individuals, not artists, businesses, or brands. Facebook Pages allow artists, businesses, and brands to showcase their work and interact with fans. These pages come pre-installed with custom functionality designed for each category. For example, a band Page has a music player, video player, discography, reviews, tour dates, a discussion board that the artists can take advantage of. Third party developers will also build an array of applications that they will compete for Page Admins to add to their Pages. Facebook Pages are also not subject to a fan limit and can automatically accept fan requests.

Hi, there!  Love your landing page!  Can you check mine for me and see if it's working properly?  I set it to the welcome tab yesterday, but to me it's still landing on the wall...and, since it's my page, and I already 'like' it, it doesn't show me what I think others who don't 'like' it yet see.
