Robin, these forums go back to the beginning of GCU and the forum.  All forums I've been on do.  It makes it possible to search for something that you might remember.  Would it hurt any of us to clean out some of the old posts, certainly not, but in general that is an impossible task because you really just can't dump all old posts without possibly wiping out something important.
 
If you just make it a habit to look at the posting date when you open the email and only read the new posts, you become blind to the rest eventually
