Wow!  Sheryl!

So your 150 card sale, each card was approximately $1.00 each (50% of $1.99) and your 300 card order was for approximately 90-cents each (50% of $1.89,) right?

That sounds very disappointing to me.  I can understand your need to vent.  Smiley

Shoddy finish and cropping on the printers part. . . in-accurate layout on the back of cards by GCU staff . . . sub-par advertising for site in general . . .  waiting weeks for approvals from often over-zealous reviewers -- -- and who's paying the price with bulk sales and SALE-sales???  the artists!  Shocked  with low commissions and poor feedback to their own reputations.  Sad   Again I ask: are the artists the only ones who care about quality 'round here?  Huh   undecided  and were it not for the artists, would there not be anything to sell?? . . . Aretha said it . . .  R   E   S  P   E  C  T . . .  Not seeing it here --- used to --- but not recently.

Okay, I vented . . . but I know I'm not alone.    Tongue   'e'

We actually have had many calls from customers delighted with their orders and little complaints. Since September we have only had three customers contact us regarding the smell of the cards. We are aware of the concerns and are working hard with our printing partner to address everything.

Wow, I just checked my adjusted commission earnings emails for the black Friday and Cyber Monday adjustments and was surprised to see I wasn't receiving the .28 per card as Mindy mentioned we would receive here in the forum.  A couple of my emails in question were for bulk card orders.  One order of 150 cards and another card order of 300 cards.  So I contacted Artist Services and was shocked to learn that GCU allowed the buyer to receive the "bulk" discount price AND get an additional 50% off of that price?  Really??  Seriously??  Uggggghhhhhhhh Angry Angry

When we use a discount coupon at a store, we can't use it on already discounted sale priced items!!!  I am very surprised you allowed both discounts.   Angry

GCU, I hope you reconsider what everyone has stated here in this forum thread and reconsider making adjustments to this sale for next year.

Sorry I just had to vent!!

Sher

No, that was certainly NOT the case and as we clarified with Sheryl via email last week she misunderstood.  We do NOT allow double discounts - this shopper did NOT receive a double discount.

The sale was for 300 cards.
At bulk price these would be $1.79 each with an artist earnings rate of 12%
the shopper used the promo so cards were $1.39 a piece which would be at the 10% earnings rate
earnings were therefore calculated using the promotional price and the HIGHER earnings rate:
12% x ($1.39 x 300 cards) = $50.04

similarly for an order size of 150 cards.
At bulk price these would be $1.99 each with an artist earnings rate of 15%
the shopper used the promo so cards were $1.39 a piece which would be at the 10% earnings rate
earnings were therefore calculated using the promotional price and the HIGHER earnings rate:
15% x ($1.39 x 150 cards) = $31.28

I find it disheartening when artists complain and vent on the forum but when the artist has made an error or has misunderstood, as in this case, artists rarely come back to the forum to say "oops, my bad".   This promotes a very negative air and is not justified.  It leaves artists with the impression that yet again GCU has done something unfair.   Accusations of GCU "pulling a fast one" or "scamming artists" and "not caring about or respecting" the artists' contribution nor product quality is simply ridiculous.

We have a very small staff and the amount of time we have to spend on wild goose chases diffusing inaccurate or half truth venting on the form is honestly a poor use of our time.

At what point do we earn the benefit of the doubt?...that we're not here to rip you off but work together to grow the business and prosper collectively?  ...that if an error has occurred or a poor decision made that GCU will find a reasonable solution or compromise? ...

i think several expressed their thanks for the price adjustments, as i said then i think the holidays allowed for a lot of misunderstandings and raw nerves.  along with the surprise sale...

things get muddled.  i know the staff is small but sometimes i think there needs to be  moderators who have access to the admins and can field questions when they happen.  sometimes questions go unanswered for many days while others get answered... feelings get hurt and imaginings run wild.  even an acknowledgment of the question and a quick ...i don't know but i will find out, would calm some of the misunderstandings or wondering before it gets out of hand.  i am just speaking for myself..but that is how i feel when i ask something and see an admin has been on the board and answered one question and left others alone.   Smiley

Mindy, I originally sent a question to Artist Services about the amount.  Since you had stated earlier in this thread about everyone getting the .28 and not the .14 I was surprised my cards were not adjusted to that amount.  So I emailed Artists Services.  This is what was originally stated in Artist Services back to me.
.... "Because your cards were purchased in bulk they were priced at 1.79 a card and discount included on top of that."

That comment led me to believe that the buyer got a double discount.  And with the fact that everyone else who sold their cards at $1.39 got the .28 and I was not receiving it, I was upset.  Especially, since you had mentioned it earlier in this thread about getting the higher amount.

Next, I did not state anywhere in the forum about "pulling a fast one" or "scamming artists"!

I appreciate everything you do.  I know you all work hard and I thank you for everything.

So, I'm sorry, I'm bad.  It was a misunderstanding.

Good feedback Denise...our admins have quickly gotten outnumbered by the number of artists and posts.  We will try to get another staff member more active on the forum to at least touchbase that you've been heard and help is on way.  You'll likely begin to see more postings from KC one of our customer care reps.

Good suggestion Denise and Mindy thank you so much for listening.  I think this will calm people down.  It is frustrating to be out here in cyberspace without anyone acknowledging.  We just need a little pat on the head so we know we are being heard  Grin

Thank you for taking the time KC!

Hi Sher,
Thanks for your post and apology as well as your email.

Yes, I can see how that exact one liner may have given you the wrong idea.  Please note that all sales notification emails show the price per card and artist earnings rate details.
