Make more money!
Sep 30th, 2010, 9:43am

Hello.........
Use your blogs as a selling point....even if you have few (or no one visiting),upload custom/request cards to your blog. Send the client that link ..... then, when they click on it you will get not only your "artist commission" but also your "artist commission".  It is a win win for gcu and you.  When I order my own cards I always use this avenue.
Light and Love,
Linda

Steve,
When someone purchases cards via your blog, you earn a "sellers commission".  50 cents per card up to 25.00 max per order...make sense?

Clarification: you will not earn sellers fees via these links for your OWN purchases.  This program is intended to attract NEW customers.  You do not earn sellers fees for existing customers.

Please note the intent of this program (seller fees links) is not for artists to earn more on cards that have been requested through GCU but to garner new shoppers via your blogs/websites that have yet to be a GCU shopper.

Rerouting a shopper who has come to GCU and requested a custom card to your blog before their purchase is like taking them through the back door and pocketing the change.  That is clearly not the intent of this program nor an ideal experience for the shopper.

We have yet to police this program but as in most affiliate programs if we see abuse we'll need to make modifications to the program which is unfortunate for all.   cry

No problem Linda.

As a new customer acquisition campaign it is designed to compensate parties that add value, in this case new customers.  It does not make sense for artists to "double dip" for a shopper that originated from GCU.

Most affiliate programs terminate relations with an affiliate who abuses the program to earn more money (ie: clicking on their own banner in a pay per click program).

Unfortunately it's not a win-win for GCU to pay the artist an artist commission AND selling commission if they did not bring the shopper.

Do we need to register for this program?
Or do we need to do something special with the link? such as add a pid number like cafepress does?

I have links from facebook fan page and have plans to add a blog as well.

Hi Damian,
When you are logged into your account click on the $ below a card that you want to promote and you will be shown the code that you can copy and paste into your blog. I have not sold any cards that I picked  Shockedbut I have earned commission from people following my link and buying other cards on GCU.  Cool

Hi,

I'm new (well joined over a year ago, but just started using it). I have a grief/sympathy website and do photography, so I just wanted to sell some sympathy cards with my photos. The other day I put some cards up on my site using the "sell this card" feature at www.journey-through-grief.com/sympathy-cards.html. (Not that you'll necessarily be able to see if I did something wrong without seeing the html.)

Anyway, today I received an email saying that 11 cards sold. I received artist commissions, but not seller commissions. Should I have received both if the buyers came from my site to buy the cards? Is there an affiliate program that I need to join to also be a seller? I haven't filled out anything besides my artist account.

Hi Janelle,
Were you logged into your account when you copied the “sell this card” code? Also there is a time limit from when the person visits your site and when they buy from GCU for you to get the commission, they could also have visited someone else’s site after yours and picked up their cookie. If you look at your sales email you can see how the buyer found your cards.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the reply. The thing that sparked my whole question was because my aunt wrote me an email saying she saw the cards on my site, liked them and bought them. She had never heard of GCU before, so I know she is a new customer. And it all happened within a matter of two days.

I'm quite sure I was logged in to my own account, but that might be something to check out as I tend to have a few windows open at once.

[Note: to anyone concerned, I seem to have this question in a couple places my server kept timing out when I posted so I assumed it wasn't posting and re-posted. Sorry if there is any confusion.]

Hi,
We'll have someone check into this.  Can you provide the card id # that was purchased or the order id from your Aunt?  That will be the quickest for us to investigate.

Product ID: 700537
Product ID: 700540
