Strange code
Sep 9th, 2010, 5:55am

I uploaded a card just now and when it appeared at the 'my cards' page (where you can see the status etc) I suddenly saw a strange coded added to my keywords:
 4C9709BE-03B3-61D5-A075-2EDB8E3CBA8E 1.02.28

I tried to edit, but whatever I do - delete all keywords, type them again, delete some, add some - the moment I save the card, the code is there again.

Is this something new and is it supposed to be there?

I have that problem myself sometimes when I submit work on other sites. I have often wondered what causes that because you just can't get rid of it no matter what you do.  Huh Huh

Thanks for your reply Rebecca, I'm glad I'm not the only one, I thought I was going crazy! lol

As it happens, I saw a similar code on someone's post at Facebook the other day.

Tried to edit the card I mentioned in my first post, but I still can't get rid of the code. I have uploaded several new cards, so I think I'll just go ahead with the details and hope the code won't appear again. Or - if it does - that the reviewer will be able to delete it.

What I found is that at GCU, you CAN NOT just copy keywords and titles from a Word Doc.  You will get error coding added due to formatting issues.  This is the case on a few sites.

If you put your keyword text into NOTEPAD and copy from there it will work because Notepad strips the formatting.

Try that, it probably is the issue you are having.  Either do the above, or type the keywords in directly.

Just thought I'd pass this along in case its causing the unusual code...or it could be gremlins  Grin

Thanks Doreen, I didn't know this, but also didn't copy the keywords from Notepad nor Word doc.

I uploaded a card, typed all the keywords in a blank box (no copying) and when I saved it, the code appeared.  cry

Well, it doesn't stop here.

Some of my cards were approved, the reviewer added words to the title (appreciate it very much!) but made a typo at one of the cards. I edited the title - never touched the keywords - but the darn code has been added to the keywords anyway.  Angry

I know it's the weekend, so it will probably take at least another day before someone sees this post, but please HELP

Antoinette,  Just checked my cards approved last night and there is no change or addition to the key words.  There is definitely something going on with your cards.  See what you mean on card 684012.  (Very cute card!)  I would suggest sending an email to GCU with card numbers under the "contact us" link.  You might get a quicker response.
Very strange indeed.

I was just about to do that Kati, but then I found an email from reviewer 443 - who probably picked up the weird code at the keywords.
They are looking into it and I really hope they can find out what causes this.

Thanks 443!  kiss
