Hi Dolly and welcome to GCU.

I don't know what is wrong with the template download, but you can get it this way:

Go to this section in the Wiki:

http://wiki.greetingcarduniverse.com/index.php/File:Landscape_template.png

Choose each template individually and one at at time click the Full Resolution link under the template.

Then do a SAVE AS and save the template.  Open the PNG in your editing program and it should be fine.  I just did that to see if it would work for you and seems to be a solution.

Good luck!

Hey Dolly, First of all Welcome to GCU. I use Photoshop and set up the size at 5"x7" and just do the cards.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Steve

Steve, I am such a fan of your cards!  I just love them!

Wanted to mention after your advice below, just so newbies understand these are not full-bleed cards, that though I also create without the template in CS3,  the real purpose of the template is to provide the much needed 'safe edge' around the outside border of the card so important designs are not cut off.

Hi Dolly, I had exactly the same problem.  I eventually created my own template in photoshop, only to have my first attempts returned because they were full-bleed designs  Sad

But I managed to edit them ok, just would have been easier if I could have got the template!!

What I don't understand, as far as the template is concerned, is that when I make a card and leave the 1/4" border clear with no part of the image intruding on it, my approved card has a 1/4" white border.  Huh

And when I fill the entire 5 x 7" space with my image, nothing is cut off!! Has this happened to anyone else? I'm confused!

I don't deal with the templates at all and never have, what I do is make a "line"border" of  1/4" on PShop and design away...works for me.

Evie,
Yes, I've had the same thing happen since we got our new printer.  I have found it is no longer safe to use a 1/4 inch white border because sometimes it is cut of on one or two sides only...
So, we either need a wider border where it won't matter so much if it's not completely even, or we need to keep the image going to the edges, but have no important information within the 1/4 inch...  Frustrating, I know.   Huh

Thanks to both of you for your feedback on this...  I had better order some of my cards to see what's what.  Roll Eyes
