When a card buyer add their words or pic,
Jun 18th, 2010, 11:26am

When a card buyer adds their words or pic to inside card, is it distinguished as sender created. I wondered if someone adds offensive text or pic inside a card , would it look like the artist created the full card with improper words?  Now, i do not know and cannot control improper use of card creation process.

Anyone have issues with this?

Does gcu run the same tight ship with buyers to verify cards are not offensive as printed?

If a customer complained to GCU I am sure that they would show their strict policy and explain that nothing like that comes through GCU unless it was a private card where the review is waived.  I guess the only consequence to the artist would be that the recipient wouldn't become a customer.  But then that is always going to be true if the recipient of the card didn't like the card or doesn't send cards.

We can only control so much.  Once it gets out into the world, like any other product, it's out of our hands.

Greetings!

Here's the link to the original discussion on this issue:

Perhaps, now that the busy holiday season is well past us, GCU can take a look at this feature and see how well it is working.

Your concern, David, is very similar to mine and others here on the site.

I'm pretty certain that the printer just prints what is sent, that they don't look over, proofread, or make any opinions as to content.  BUT, I could be wrong about that.

I'm glad that this has been mentioned again.

I've used the feature myself and the results have been great, but, I know that I'm using a quality image and that I'm not going to create anything to offend.

Just my 2-cents on this, again.

Hi, Bright!

You've raised a good point:  If the recipient of the card doesn't like a card that he/she receives from GCU, he/she will not become a customer.  But it's not that they won't become a customer of the ARTIST -- they won't become a customer of GCU, which hurts all of the artists -- in sales and credibility -- and the sales and credibility of GCU as a company.

One thing that we have to remember, is that most customers don't realize that we're a collection of a few thousand INDIVIDUAL artist, they think that we are all GCU!  Smiley

Thanks for the great response . I prefer to order cards myself and customize cards because the process is feature complex but delivers a great finished . It would be nice if a artist by-line could be used to distinguish  artist words from buyer words added on order. We have lots of strange UFO greetings cards that we mostly leave blank inside, that perhaps could have even stranger buyer things added that i might not approve

We do not review customer entered images nor text for correctness nor offensiveness.  There have been some cards stopped by our printer (I can count on one hand the occasions) that included offensive content that did not abide by our Adult Content Guidelines.  The printer does not read/review the cards but apparently this was so offensive it just couldn't be missed.

This is not something we plan to monitor nor intervene.

As for changes to the inside image upload feature, we do not have any plans at this time.  To date we have not received any complaints from shoppers re: the inside image quality.
