Organizing  artist shops - store
Jun 11th, 2010, 9:03am

I asked this question just now in Artist Chatter, but am thinking this is the better category for this querry.

Is there a way to organize a store better or at least organize the photos into categories so its not such random assortment or hodgepodge for someone visiting?

I know the categories are listed and if someone clicks on the category they're interested in it will narrow down to just those cards in that category and they can go further breaking down into subcategories.   Also using keywords in the advanced organizing tool, you could add a keyword to all cards you want grouped together and your store would be set up that way, unless as I understand a shopper comes into your store and searches newest cards or ???, then that all goes out the window.

Has anyone ever suggested giving the artists ability to organize their store according to Category?  It sure would make it easier if I went to my store and the cards were organized accordingly.
At the moment I have a few less than 100 cards, but in time when you have a thousand or more???  I'm lost now!  Of course, organization is not one of my strong points, not even a weak point, I'm a zero when it comes to those skills.  LOL

Just some ideas how some of you keep things organized here.

Thanks,  Randall

Alas Randall, as I understand, there is no easy way to do this cry the methods you have stated through keywords in the manage store section are it to my knowledge, and yes when you get close to a thousand cards it becomes an insurmountable problem. Tongue

It is something I have tried to address recently with clickable links in my store but it's less than perfect.
I would love to hear if others have any ideas Smiley

I do recall reading a while back (from Mindy I think) that the majority of card purchases are through the general categories and searches and that very few sales are from folks browsing our stores. Nonetheless, I do promote MY store to people and like to think they can get around without too much frustration and find what they need. It is in a way representing me.
I put in time on it when I can but on the whole it seems very limited in what you can achieve,

Will check back to see what other ideas come from this.

Hi Randall,
There is always the search function on the store, if they say are looking for a particular subject like animals...they can find it by typing it in.
There's also the keyword 'cloud' they can go to...but I see your point! Smiley

I am not sure if this helps but....  i organize my cards through the "arange card gallery" section;   I put all of my cards in order of holidays, birthdays, etc....    I have also tried to organize them by time of year...

this is not a one time fix for me...  after each major holiday or event - i go back and put those particular cards at the end...

for example:  right now my fathers day and graduation cards are on the first page of my store...  after fathers day - i will send them to the back page;  i do this by changing their position from 1, 2, 3 etc to 275 (which is my last card currently)

THere are some of my cards I always try to keep towards the front of my store -  just because... and then others go directly to the back after the holiday...

it was a bit time consuming at first to get the cards in the order I wanted - but now it doesn't take but a few minutes after each holiday.

it doesn't give you specific categories but it does help because the front page always has the most pertinent cards
