OT: Question for photographers
Mar 16th, 2010, 5:01pm

My sister has been doing more weddings and special events. We are looking for a site that clients could click on from our web site and order photos of various sizes. Any of you wedding photograhers have any suggestions?

I use www.FrankzPawPrintz.photoreflect.com the free version gives you all that you need. And you can pick from any number of professional photo labs that are linked into the system. Check it out and if you have questions, I'll be happy to answer. If you do sign up, please let them know I sent you.
Enjoy,
Renae

Hello Angela,
Another site is Printroom.com.

They will host pages free for you where you can load one or two portfolios I think, maybe more.  You can also purchase a pro package which will give you more options.  You select the packages and photo sizes you want to offer and set your price and Print room prints and sends the package to your client or to you if you'd prefer.  They have a set fee for each size and also offer discounts for packages so you can decide the price you wish to offer your pictures at.
When you sign up for the pro packages, you get discounts off the free membership prices.

I haven't used them in a while as I print and sell most all my photos onsite and the last wedding I shot, I just did one framed wedding picture and gave the DVD to the couple to do as they wish.  Seems nowadays with Costco photo printing and all, that's what people want.

Good luck with her venture into the photography field!

Angela,

When I replied to your post regarding Printroom, it reminded me that I haven't been at the site to update lately, so I'm correcting a couple of things.

With the free program you can create several Groups or Galleries, but you're limited to 300 MB which isn't a lot.  I've only got something like 12 images up in a gallery I call My best Drag Strip photos from 2009 and those take up 46 Mb of my 300.  A well documented wedding could easily be 400 - 500 images and if shot in RAW would eat up that space quickly.  I wouldn't put every image up online, but you get the picture, pardon the pun!

So printroom gives you the option to buy more space or sign up for a pro or premium membership,  although that is reasonable since they want your print business.  The Pro package is $10 per month or $99 for a year and gives you 1 GB of space.  The premium is $20 per month and gives you unlimited space.  Also you can set up your storefront with Flash under the paid options to display slideshows & music at your store.  Rather than having to shop other printing sites through a host, everything is done at Printroom which I think is a plus.  Another thing is the weblink address is a lot simpler to remember or place on your business cards as opposed to other sites and the site is most professional and seems easy for a customer to use.

here's the link to my pages at Printroom.   http://www.rtstonephoto.printroom.com/

You can start a account by going direct to www.printroom.com

Hope it all works out for her whereever she ends up.

Randall
