eCard Feature - Turning OFF 1/23/09
Jan 23rd, 2009, 2:31pm

We are continuing to experience problems with our Artists' eCards.  Unfortunately, the fixes are not quick and easy.  In light of the entire eCard offering needing an overhaul, we will be turning this feature off today until the new offering can be designed.  No time frame specified yet.  The GCU stock eCards will remain for the time being.

The new eCard offering (possibly called pCards) will be much more user friendly, give artists' eCards more exposure and with some available to shoppers for a nominal fee (perfect for last minute greetings when it's too late to send a paper card), it will allow artists to earn commissions on sales of their eCards.  See here for previous discussions on pCards:
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/forum/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1218475907/54#54

You can still send eCards of your artwork by using the same Create an eCard feature that the shoppers use, here:
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/ecard/ephoto.asp

Our apologies for the inconvenience!

I'm sorry to hear this. It was the opportunity to be able to offer free eCards that finally pushed me to make an effort to upload cards to GCU. It is afterall a very big investment of time to upload images and go through that whole review process, for what seems to be a very far down the road payout. The ecards and the publicity and service they provide were a selling point to me. This makes it wait and see again for me.

I just noticed a column on the store report for ecard orders that I never noticed before. Is this something new, or am I just overworked and didn't notice it before? Looks like people have sent ecards from my shop in the last few days, too. How is this possible if the feature has been turned off?

I just looked at my store report and it jumped from 2 ecard orders to 221!  Shocked  Suddenly there are a lot of orders on days that formerly had none! This dates back to when I started the shop. How did that happen? Has someone not been putting the numbers in and just now got around to it? Is there a way to check which cards were sent? If so, I could have a better idea about which cards are more popular, at least as ecards. Administrators, can you help here?

I tried sending out ecards from GCU's ecards and it appears that I can still send my ecards, however, I can't send out other store's cards, so how did someone send one of my ecards today?  Huh At least my store report says one was sent today. As the King of Siam would say, "It's a puzzlement!"

I am also showing ecards sold in my store report going back to when I joined in Nov (219 to be exact), problem is, I don't have any ecards that I am aware of! It must be related to GCU working on the ecard feature as this is the first day it has shown up.

The Ecards Sold column in your Store Report has always been there.  We are in the process of removing this column.  It is possible that it is showing erroneous data with the recent change.

Can you give us more details on where/how you say you could still send your own ecards?

These are the only eCards, our "stock" eCards, remaining on the site:

Correct, but those are not made available to anyone else but yourself.  So effectively artists submitting their work as eCards to GCU has been disabled yet you have this workaround for your own use.

Is there still any confusion or "puzzlement"?  Wink

The puzzlement was because I didn't send the card, and no one else could send one of mine, so, who sent one of my eCards and which one was it? Of course, you said that the numbers might be bogus, since I asked that, so it probably wasn't sent by anyone, just numbers that happened to show up because of "glitches" in the programming. If we do get that feature back, would it be possible to see which ones are sent? Thanks.

When the new ecard feature is in place, yes, it will have detailed reporting.

Mindy, is there anyway a eMail notice can be sent out to the GCU artist, I don't think some have seen no eMail in the forum.  I have just this week been on blogs still with an active Free eCards link to GCU stores advertising Free eCards as being available?
