I am a Send Out Cards Distributor and looking for a way to create a greeting card website for some of my clients.  I ran across this thread and am compelled to reply even though this is a year old topic now.

I do not appreciate the flaming of Send Out Cards.  I make very good money at Send Out Cards and it is a fabulous company..  It is not a pyramid scheme or any kind of scam.  I see a lot of anger in the comments on this thread.  This is not to say that I am suggesting that Send Out Cards is an answer for selling your own cards, and that you should move from Greeting Card Universe.

I actually just found Greeting Card Universe today and posted a greeting card (one that I also offer through my send out cards site).  I hope I sell a few of those and hope this site can ALSO be profitable to me.  There are some features with Greeting Card Universe that I like better than Sond Out Cards, and vise versa.

I am curious what kind of income you are making from Greeting Card Universe, and how many cards you have to create that income.  If anyone would comment on that I would appreciate an honest discussion.  (email me privately if you prefer pg_swenson@yahoo.com).

Had I found this site first,  would I still be a Send Out Cards rep?  Yes, because I can buy and send cards at 62 cents each.. The same card I am paying $2.79 for at Greeting Card Universe.  That is why people that know about both would choose Send Out Cards.   However as an artist, Send Out Cards is not very convenient.. except for creating my own cards for my own use.

I would love an honest discussion about Send Out Cards vs. Greeting Card Universe.  Perhaps I'll start my own topic on both forums...  But please don't disparage Send Out Cards or a rep that contacts you wanting to know if you want to consider another option.  The rep discussed at the beginning only wanted to spend her time (and her money) introducing you to a new tool you might find useful.

I feel a bit slighted! LOL I did not get the email ya'll are talking about.. however, someone who says they are a Send out Cards rep just asked a question in Artist Tips in the forum. I think it was tips, not sure now. I did answer her as honestly as I could. I am not familiar with that company. But as an artist, why in the world would I want to go to a company where I  have to pay to have them make my cards, and then I have to have card type parties to get other people to sell them.... bla bla.. what a bunch of work that would be. I love GCU. I probably won't get rich here, but it sure beats the heck out of SOC. Just my honest opinion.

Yep, that other question was me (I said I'd start a new topic).  So still I think you misunderstand SOC.  I did say that for an artist who wants to sell their designs to the public GCU has a better plan than SOC.  SOC is not very accommodating to artists wanting to sell their designs.  But you can make your own cards for your own use for 93 cents each, or use one of the stock options for 62 cents each.  vs. $1.61 at GCU.

The idea of SOC parties is just starting up, for those who like the home party concept as an option.  But it is not the traditional way to sell SOC.  Traditionally you just send cards, and tell others how to send cards, that's it.  Most of my customers come to me, because I've sent them a card, or word of mouth about SOC gets them to contact me.

Well, I'm curious to see how much my card out there is going to make me Wink.  You say it sure beats the heck out of SOC.... we'll see.

phyllis if i am reading this right,  are you are talking about the one card in your store.  it won't make much i am afraid because as we all learned a larger number of cards in your store, increases your visibility and will bring more money.... which is reasonable and to be expected.  please continue to add your designs and build your store and hopefully you will see that you can make a reasonable amount here as well.

i am one of the artists here who does get my own cards printed and i sell them locally.  I can use the professional print company that i normally use and still do better than the 62 cents each for cards.  i do not have to pay a fee or any of the upfront extra charges to get the better price.  I am a vendor with my cards prominently displayed in a downtown store front window. and i know about overhead and how those extra charges eat into profits.

I do apologize for my comments in the post a year ago.  I did not know you or anything about the company and had no business being rude.  however if i am getting the gist of what you are doing, making money by selling your own cards then i am sure you can do equally as well if not better getting them printed at a professional print house that does short run printing and does not charge you any fees.
