HTML linking to products
Mar 10th, 2008, 6:45pm

Hi guys & girls Smiley

Maybe this has been asked before (couldn't find it):

Is there something in work to get some sort of linkcode to promote our own and also other artists products?
(Thanks to a little help I could get my own images up on the blog)

I have a blog solely for that purpose, with various Sites and Artists.

I would love to promote some of the great stuff from over here, but for now it's only my pictures and my widget.
I feel lonely Wink

Nicole,

If you go to your GCU shop and click on a card you want to link and place onto your blog, then copy the web address that shows up in your address bar of your browser (in my case I use Internet Explorer 6.0).  Paste that link for temporary keeping into a text editor like note pad (or if you have MS Word).  Now GCU has the right click disabled so if you have IE you cannot copy the image for your card that way.  However, if you have uploaded your image to GCU then you already have a copy of the image you want to place on your blog.  So, then all you have to do is upload your image to your blog, then use that web address for the card you want to link it to on GCU (that you already copied and pasted it for temporary holding) to create your link.  I'm not sure how your blog works as far as assigning a link to an image.  I know on my Verizon portal shop it allows me to upload my .jpg image and place it on the page I want.  Then I can assign a link to that image if I want my customers to click to it on whichever shop I want it to go to.  I have a few POD shops, some with the same image but on different products depending on the POD shop.

For example a link to one of my cards is this:

http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/community/viewdetails.asp?pid=161799&pag e=1&aid=132735

I hope that makes sense.  I hope I have not confused you more.  Huh  Just trying to help.  Wink

Thanks, Shari.

Somebody showed me the trick for my own cards a few days back.
Easiest is if you go to manage your own cards, link to the picture there and then link the whole thing to the product page.

But I like to promote other Artists.

My question therefor is, if somebody has brought up the idea of promoting other peoples art via some html Love yet?

You can promote other artists through your widget. Just use the "All stores" radio button instead of "My Store Only". In that way, you get the seller's commission.

You could also develop a method for artists to send you their links to cards they want to promote. I don't know how you could work this so that you'd get the seller's commission, however.

If I had enough time, I'd set up a Squidoo group for GCU artists. Then we could all link to each other, and also link to the Squidoo group from our blogs. But I have so much on my plate right now.

Thanks for the ideas Smiley

I didn't know up to now that I can use the widget for all.

But like mentioned at another place, I would love to have both widgets, not only the one.
I hope this option will come soon.

My blog isn't only for me to get commissions.
It's actually a Collaborate Blog where people can sign up as members and blog their stuff and advertise that way.
Generates traffic for all of us.
I didn't post the link up to now, but here you go:

It's just that everyday Life usually catches up with people and not many will use that place.
Right now it's mainly a place for the big *Z* company promotion, but I would love to have art from here as well.

Anyhow, if anyone wants to join, here's how Wink
