Images rated poor quality
Feb 17th, 2008, 1:25pm

Hello everybody, I am new here and have only posted once.
I have a problem, every image I upload turns out to be "poor quality".
Now, I cannot use the template, I do not have adobe.
I scan my watercolor paintings  (the size is normally over DIN A4). When reviewing on my monitor, the picture  looks completely ok, sharp details, nothing blurry or fuzzy. I upload, get "poor quality" but the card looks ok to me, nothing blurry or fuzzy either. So what goes wrong? Could you please give me some tips and help? Am not so computer savvy Wink embarrassed Thanks and happy creating!  Smiley barbara

Hi Barbara Wink
I dont how do you scan your watercolor drawings...
Maybe this will help you...
At first when you scan your image you must make output resolution 300 dpi.
And then scan.

SmileyAsta is correct.. making the scans at 300dpi will set you up for JPGs at 1000x1000..If there under that the GCU uploader will give a "Poor" rating..Most of my cards are set at 1817wx1365h...The uploader is ver fussy about small pictures. Once you get the hang of it you can move on to other formats like gifs or bitmaps, but I would stick to large JPGs for now...There must be a setting on your scanner for sizing and format... Check it out and make some samples before you actually upload to GCU...goood Luck...capt.

Hello Asta, Hello Phrank,
Thanks for the info. Smiley Smiley
Will try it out this week, and if it doesn't work, I'll ask for help again.
In the meantime, have a wonderful creative and peaceful week! Cool

Hi Barbara,
Please let us know if you have any additional trouble.  As Phrank noted, you'll want to scan your images at 300dpi.

If you have access to an image editing program, you'll want to size your images at 1500x2100pixels (or 2100x1500 depending on the orientation of the image).  This should give you Best quality when uploading your files.
