URL on back of cards and using recycled paper
Jan 12th, 2008, 2:17pm

Hi. I just received my first shipment of my own cards, and I am very pleased with the quality. So thanks for that!

I have two suggestions (apologies if these have already been covered in the forum):

The first suggestion has to do with the information that currently appears on the back of the cards. I see that there is a URL for cardstore.com but no URL for Greeting Card Universe.

I know you are working on having an editable field on the card back so that the artist can put in a caption and their URL. That would be the best solution, but in the interim, how about the URL for GCU as part of the GCU logo? That way someone who had received a card, and who was looking to find the same or similar cards, could at least find the GCU website by looking at the back of the card.

The second suggestion has to do with the paper. I read on the GCU website that you are currently using Classic Crest for the envelopes, which does have some good environmental qualities according to the manufacturer's website, but I would love to see GCU using an envelope made with 100% post consumer content. The same manufacturer offers envelopes in that category.

As many people know, the production of recycled paper has significant environmental advantages over virgin (nonrecycled) paper production, including less impact on forest resources, less air pollution, less water pollution, less water consumption, less energy consumption, and less solid waste.

Using 100% recycled envelopes could be good marketing too, since most people want to participate in solving our environmental problems. Every small action we take contributes to making a big difference overall.

I don't know what type of paper the cards are printed on, but I am assuming it is not recycled. This may be more difficult to achieve with the printing technology you are using, but I would love to know if you are exploring recycled paper options, or are willing to explore them.

Thanks for listening!

I agree this is not a good link for the back.  When I type in cardstore.com or www.cardstore.com, it takes me to a link to a completely different site.  None of our cards are there...or I don't know how to use the site????  It seems a shame for the hosts of Greeting Card Universe to go to all this work, and expense only to send customers to a different site...... Huh

Hum... interesting to know why they advertise  other niche  and not the  direct artist's  GCU store  or at least the GCU link... Is this another fine print on the contract  I forgot to  read?? Shocked

Dear all,
I couldn't agree more! Thanks Dustin for bringing the subjects of both being environmentally conscious and card back could say so along with better promo for GCU. Perhaps if a portion of sales was donated in aid of a cause too - At Christmas some of my Christmas cards were indeed GCU cards to which I justified the cause I was supporting this year was GCU and me me me. (smiles) but my usual cards which I find far more meaningful to send are in support of charity from cancer research to conservation efforts to animal welfare to Unicef... I think if GCU backed a charity with a %, it would be win win for charity, GCU profits and artist sales. Fuel for thought. Cheers, Lisa Charlton
