Card Suggestion
Jan 3rd, 2008, 4:30pm

I was wondering if we could offer cards for little kids to color- i.e. : line art cards. Is there any type of card stock that you have that would be suitable for this?

Hmm, interesting.  We only have the existing cardstock to work with in the two finishes.  So you can pull out your crayons and pens and do some testing to see how feasible that is.  We'll do the same and compare notes here.

Thanks Inge. We'll do Mindy. I think this would be a good idea- easpecially for ages 4-9 - they love to color anyhow. I have made some at home, and my nieces and nephews love them, I just used a regular cardstock though. I imagine the surface we are using right now would be good for markers, but not sure about crayons. Many parents won't let kids age 4-6 have markers- too many walls to decorate. lol

Great idea...I'm all over it!!!  I think this would be a fantastic seller.  Where should we put them?  What category?

Markers would be the best suggestion for this type of card, but it would work with the matte finish. Do you think we should give it a try? undecided

Also, if it is acceptable to try, will there be a seperate category created for this in birthdays and other categories?

Hi,

Very good idea. I'm thinking about the possibility to write on the card too (matte paper?). I'd like to make cards on which the buyer could register his message in the midst of a drawing/graphics (on the front of the card). But cards of this kind already exist... ?

Great idea with the 'write on' cards.  Smiley

I kind of tried this with a Christmas design of mine---left the snowman's card that he was holding blank so that it could be written on by the sender.  Alas, they didn't work---perhaps it was my marketing of them, though?

I think the coloring idea is a good one---I'd shoot for some type of 'activity card' category.  I was thinking of making some 'hidden picture' type cards---ones where you have to hunt for things.  What do you think?

Kerra
I think that is a fabulous idea! I have also been wondering about cards with some type of ink that kids could brush over with a water color bush and water to make the ink spread- like a watercolor. Like the coloring books that have that sort of ink on the paper. I wonder if something like that is possible? If we could put paint them in photoshop with dots where the different colors should be, then in the printing process the dots would be replaced with the corresponding inks. I haven't seen any and it could be a big hit- for the kids  card sales.

Sorry for the lack of the link.  It's here:

I'd suggesting setting the default for these cards to Matte.

has anybody tested out these cards?  i did on one that had printing on the front and crayon did not take and marker rubbed off.  this was not a white card with black outline so i am not sure if only the printed lines would resist the medium.

any where a line crossed on the white back of the card , the medium did not take on the logo for instance, it would not take, the white however did accept it.  i just wondered if even though it is black and white, if there was any finish on the front that would resist, or if it was only on the black line that it resists.

this was a matte card as mindy had suggested.   i would just hate to see a buyer come back saying the color rubbed off or got on clothing due to a finish on the card.

i think it is a great idea, just wondered about technicalities
