Shop organization?
Dec 29th, 2007, 12:44am

Is there any way to compartmentalize your shop?

For instance, if you look at my shop.. there's not a lot there yet, but what IS there is are 3 very different types of cards....

'Fine art'.. although, since it's my own untrained work from over the years, fine is subjective.. Smiley

'Illustrations' (Is that the best name for the graphics I've drawn on the computer, that consist of lines with colored fills?)

'Modified Photos' (Currently only the moon designs, where varying amounts of the photo show.. from photo only, to photo very hidden by texturing.)

Is there a way to organize your work under categories like this in your storefront?

When people visit my store, I'd like them to be aware the 3 different types exist, without having to look at ALL my designs, and without the designs being muddled together all in one page...

Thanks!

if i understand correctly that is one of the improvements in the works for early 2008.  a way to have sub categories or ways to divide our cards up for the customer to see them in a more organized way

Hi
I would also like to organise my cards better, as they are at the moment it`s all a jumble and with almost 2000 cards to go through so far I think people soon tire of looking for specific types!
I would like to arrange mine in occasion, Christmas, Birthday, Easter, Blank etc, as I do at Squidoo, Karen`s Kreations Website etc, it makes it much easier for visitors to look at the cards they are actually shopping for, and for me to keep track of the cards!

I agree...but do you kinda cringe at the thought of actually reorganizing all of them?  Lol.  I know I do!

Hi
Yes, reorganising all those cards is a daunting prospect, but would be worth it in the end. It took me several days at CP when I reorganised my cards there, but the result is better for shoppers and for me!. It wasn`t so bad when I didn`t have a huge selection, but I now have almost 2000 cards here and plenty more to upload yet!. I would love to see it done so we can just select certain cards by a tick/check then move them or place them all together, like we can at CP etc, it`s much easier than drag & drop!

You are right, Karen - "drag and drop" sometimes isn't so easy, especially when I always seem to "drop" the cards in the wrong place!  Grin

Absolutely agreed.  On our list for 2008 improvements giving you subgalleries that you can easily manage.

Thanks Mindy!
That sounds great!!

What about the 'Tick and Move' feature that Karen suggested to replace or suppliment 'drag and drop' reorganization?

Subcategories ideas. Have 12 files, one for each month and then pile them in each month with subcatagories. Seems simple enough.
