In an effort to highlight and differentiate custom front cards from standard cards for shoppers we have added a new graphic to custom front card thumbnail images. You will now see a little "Custom Front" image and arrow.
For example see here on the Name Specific Birthday card page:
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/name-specific-birthday-cards This will help shoppers to identify at a glance which card designs they can change on their own.
This is just the first step in a plan to better differentiate custom front cards. We are going to further call attention for shoppers what elements of the cards are customizable as well as boost custom cards exposure.
We have a few and will add more >> Custom / Personalized subcategories however we feel relegating custom cards to these categories does not give them good exposure. If someone is looking for a custom card they are more likely to use the onsite search "custom". And now with this graphic we think the card is best served when residing in its occasion specific category.
We still encourage artists to create multiple versions of a custom front cards showing variety of relations, ages, names, etc. even though the shopper can change it to anything they want for several reasons like:
1. some shoppers want to buy quickly - ready made, as is
2. search engine and onsite search will only find cards for what they ARE, not what they could be with changes (2nd birthday, 3rd birthday, Sister, Mom, Aunt, etc).
3. better visibility when residing in more than 1 category/subcategory
We'd like to encourage artists when creating new cards to think about if their card is best served as a standard or custom front card. Is there added value to allowing the shopper to edit the front? Is the design such that works well with the custom front options? Or is the design too highly stylized?
We do have on our wishlist from prior requests:
1) more custom front card fonts
2) matching custom front card fonts to inside verse fonts
Let us know if you have any questions and what you think of this new graphic.
