Jan 22nd, 2012, 1:02pm

HuhCan anyone explain the true meaning of the Category, Collections? Exactly what type of card goes under that? I am very confused, as I see all different types. some blank, some with titles, ETC.
thanks in advance

Hi Robin
I've always taken them to be categories by subject matter.
Say someone is a dog enthusiast & is looking for all types of card with a dog
theme, then they could check out the collections header for animals/pets & dogs to find what they need.
Or perhaps someone is mad about flowers, it might be quicker to search under the collections, flowers, and if someone wanted to buy cards for different occasions but with the same flower or pet theme, they are all gathered together under one heading.
I might be understanding it wrongly, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am.

Best wishes
Angela

Yup, she's making sense and is right!  They serve as subject matter catchalls for the most part.  There are some exceptions ie: Blank Note Cards, International Days, Recipe / Cooking Cards for example that are more functional collections.

As our onsite seach functionality become more robust these subject matter Collections may no longer be needed.  A shopper can quite effectively search for "Pug puppy" for example and get very relevant (& adorable!) results.
