Deleting New Year's 2012 too soon?
Jan 2nd, 2012, 2:00pm

Hello,
Today I deleted all my cards that specified 2011 as a date. I also have been deleting any New Year's card that has 2012 on it. However, when attempting to delete ID# 810662, I was given a notice that that card had an order pending.
OOPS! Did I delete my New Year's 2012 cards too soon?

Hi Ramelle..  Perhaps you might consider updating the cards vs: deleting them for next time?  You could change the year to 2012... 13... 14... etc..   I believe that is what they wish us to do each new year.   HNY to you too~

Rats! I should have kept them! I didn't know that I could just change the date. I thought any new design with a new date would have to be resubmitted and go through the approval process all over again.
And here I was feeling so efficient . . .
Is there any way I can get my deleted cards reeinstated?

In the past, I have seen cards on the sold train where I think that people are sending belated greetings or perhaps just like the design or maybe want to frame a card for a momento.  You never know what some people want to do with our cards.

You can change just the image with the present year, then there won't be another review period.

Hmmm . . . I guess I'll just resubmit the updated ones another time.
But I hope this will be a warning to all the GCU artists out there to NOT delete their dated cards for a while.
Thanks, everyone, for your input.

Ramelle, don't beat yourself up over deleting the New Year's cards.  I did that the first year I was here, too, not realizing that I could just change the date and upload a new image.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for the kind words, Penny. I did feel rather bad after I deleted them, but then I got a message from Artist Services informing me that I'd already sold one of my Easter cards. So, looking ahead, I press onward!

Just sold a couple of Easter cards too, so people do shop early for upcoming holidays.  On the deleting thing, remember that any card once approved can be changed, so rather than wait for the review process on cards, if you have some you think need culling from your store, rethink their use with perhaps a different image and inner text.  Don't forget to update your keywords and artist notes.  The things you have to keep the same and can't change are the category, card format and note to reviewer.

Best for 2012 and beyond, Randy

Thanks Randy!
I will definitely take your good advice and do some reworking. I find, however, that many of my earlier designs are stuck in only one category. In the 11 months I have been with GCU I have learned a lot, especially how to properly categorize my cards and utilize the "Collections" category whenever appropriate so as to get greater exposure. I think the solution to that may be to add more keywords to cover what I omitted in the original submission.
I appreciate all the thoughtful responses. Thanks again.

Just to clarify:

AFTER review you CAN change font choice, change the layout, border and so forth.  You CANNOT replace the image with a DIFFERENT image . . . nor should you change the text to something other than the example of changing the year which of course is fine or correcting a spelling error, that type of thing.

Keep in mind that the image and the text have been approved so swapping the image with the same image only modified to improve it is usually okay, but to change the image with a different image or making major adjustments to the image should always be something that is deleted and sent for re-review.

This is what I've been told over the years anyway Smiley

Yes!  Too early to delete as we are still seeing sales coming in for Happy New Year 2012 cards.   And as we've all discovered here it's a good idea to update your card vs deleting it.

If you'd like to post a list of pid#s we can revive them for you so can just update the image and terms and don't have to create from scratch.

Mindy, I appreciate your help. Please reinstate # 872440. I was able to find that one in my sales report, but the others did not sell and I have no way to find them. That's OK; I'll just make them again.
Thank you!

I'll have the review team bump it back to you as Returned for Edits so you just need to make your edits and use the Resubmit function.  If we can find any others that you recently deleted we'll do the same.
