Nice thought, that was brought up long ago and it would be nice Wink  Not likely to happen.  The forum is 3rd party software meaning that GCU pays another company so that we can have this forum to communicate, therefore it's unlikely that we'll get a separate forum just for us.

Rebecca, we absolutely have privacy from customers when wanted.  If you look at the Forum Sections there are at least 3 which are artist's only.

Just food for thought... Though the idea to not allow forum access until a min of two cards is a nice idea and might stop some of the spam, it will do nothing for this type of spamming.  What has been coming through the past couple of days is being done by an auto-bot which is why they come in waves of 20+ at a time and has managed to get through, so this is not even an account that's been created, most likely it has managed to hijack or piggyback someone's account.

The only thing that will stop this type of spam is the GCU techies on Monday AND that each of us make sure we have a CURRENT malicious software checker on our computer and have it set to update daily.  This type of auto-spamming (like what was happening to Sue's Facebook contacts) often starts on our computers at home and is passed maliciously everywhere we go.

I was told by Mindy that customers can still read our posts in the artists only categories but are not allowed to post there themselves. That is not privacy.

Hi everybody,

Sorry for the trouble with the SPAM.   We try to remove them as fast as we can, but unfortunately a few of them always slip through.   The way the forum currently works is everyone can view the forum, but to post anything you must have an artist account.   We like the view to remain open to the public so the search engines are able to crawl our content.

We like the ability to post only if you've had a couple of cards approved which would weed out most of the SPAM.   As Doreen mentioned, the forum is a 3rd party software and we do not have a lot of control over its functionality.   Definitely on our wish list if/when we switch forum software.

Again our apologies on the SPAM.   If you receive emails with funky subject lines, don't even bother clicking on them.  And if you do click on them and get a funky message like "don't have right to access", it means one of our admins has removed the post already.

Hope you all had a happy thanksgiving Smiley

Nasser

Hi. evidently, the forum has been left unmoderated for the holiday weekend. I'm just going to put a filter on it until an administrator solves this problem.

I find it amazing that any marketer would think that this sort of thing would be effective: I'd buy ANYTHING from ANYONE ELSE before I'd give these people my custom.
