Kind eXpressions has a new look!
Nov 23rd, 2011, 11:31am

Hello guys,

Just thought I'd share my store's new look.  Changed up my header a bit, at least the store name so it looks like writing on the beach.  Also added a small 'e' to the front of 'Expressions' in the store name.

Just needed something new and more professional.  I also think adding the 'e' will help in making it easier for people to find me instead of the old 'Xpressions.'  What do you think?  I'm open to suggestions as I think it looks good, but then am not objective for obvious reasons.

Appreciate any feedback and hope you're all having a wonderful Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving or weekend!   Cool

Best always, Randy

Hi Randy,
I like the new look, nice and easy on the eyes, makes me think of desert tones.
I think it looks very professional and I like the way you used a letter style format for your store welcome, lends a nice personal touch.

I have one 'nit-pick'  Roll Eyes I am bothered by the card choice on the right hand side in the header that says Follow your Dreams, I would love to see something that has stronger tones/colors like the other cards around it and a little less 'fuzzy' (technical term Grin). The other tidbits make me want to see the whole card, that one, not so much. To my eye that card image look fuzzy and pale and it also draws my eye from the center 'beach' image because it is in the same tone.

Of course this IS a nit-pick but figured I would throw it out there since I did notice it, and feel free to tell me I am crazy and go work on my own header Wink Grin

Hey, Randy!

I love the center of your banner, with the sand and tide coming in, and, especially the detail of the man running.  But, after that, I have to agree mostly with what Pam said.

Just my 2-cents, and free advice is worth what you pay for it, but I would LOVE to see you create a header that is just the beach and none of the bits of cards; they're just too distracting.

Also keep the tagline that you have under your header; it's great!

Overall really nice!

Thank you all for your input, especially Penny and Pam.  I was thinking what you both suggested before your comments, but was just too lazy to go in and do the work of cleaning the banner up all the way.  After your comments, decided to go ahead and do it as it was really bothering me more knowing other people felt the same.   Tongue

So I went to work and it ended up not being such a big deal after all, the hardest, and I still am not one hudred percent onboard with the way it turned out, was the background color on the header.  I was trying to match the background color to the backgound on my logo, but there isn't a matching color in the choices given on the color chart.

Oh well, still a lot better and less busy than the old store heading.

Thanks again everyone!

Best always, Randy

Thank you all again!  I'm glad you all aren't the reviewers!

I'm having a heck of a time getting a concept I have across through the process.  I really don't agree with the system that they've put into place now!  It's a closed box.  I wouldn't say that over just one submission, but it's been a fight on the last several.  I've had to undue some of the creative touches and then only with pleading and crying making me feel like a spoiled little baby, did the team reluctantly approve my seacoast image.  The last ones I resubmitted after editing, they didn't like the rose tint, so I did two in a sepia mask along with some other tweaks, even with the verse reflecting a 'good ole fashioned' wedding theme.  Both those were returned bak again and the one I did with a white vignette along the outside edges.

I gave up and just dumped them in my private gallery for now.  It's not even about the rejection, it's my creation, I came here so I could show off what I came up with, not what they told me to make.  Here's what I wrote the reviewer.

"Hello,
If I wanted to submit a straight uninteresting photograph, I would have.  This is supposed to look vintage.  Not one person I've shown this to outside of GCU has given me negative fdbk on this or the other masks that I used.   I posted these up on facebook asking for help and all I got was compliments, even for the rose tinted version I first submitted which one of the people is a professional photagraphers assistant I work with occasionally and she shoots the engagement, bride - dressing room shots at wedddings and her specialty, pregnant mothers, mothers with baby photos.  Many of those are silhouettes, with backlighting and masks like these, that's what people love and what's fun to create.   It's not like I threw these together on a whim, I probably worked severl hours into the wee hours of the morning on these.  I do these shots all the time for my wedding albums and people love them.  Guess it doesn't matter what someone wants, just what you all think and I'm pretty sure you are wrong.  If you want just a straight photograph then take the darned thing yourselves, but it's not what i'm trying to do here.  I want to sell cards, but my cards, my creations, not yours!
Sorry for being so blunt, but this is getting ridiculously frustrating trying to figure out what you all will accept and what you won't!
Thanks anyway, but the reason I joined this site is so I could create.  Not pop out someone elses cookies, then when I pull out a batch have them tell me it should have been twelve cookies on the pan, not thirteen, throw that batch away and start a a new one.
Best always, Randy"

If you're interested, they are the first 4-5 images in my private gallery.  Maybe I'm wrapped up in my own creativity, but to me these aren't even really anything special, just some of the effects I do for my wedding shots which everyone seems to like.  I don't think they buy them because they feel sorry for me or is that it?   Grin

Just venting this morning before I run off to work.  Yep still have to work, cause at the rate GCU approves cards and for the commission we get, I'll be dead before there's enough in my account to even pay my internet access bill.

Ya'll have a nice day!

Best always, Randy
