Quick View...Like it or not?
Nov 14th, 2011, 10:06am

When I want to view a card very quickly, the "Quick View" isn't quick at all. It brings up the whole card. I wish we could go back to the way it was... hover over a card and it comes up quickly. Quick View takes several seconds to view and I just want to see something fast.

I'm with you 100% on this Elizabeth.  I hate the "quick view" compared to how it was before (when it was actually quick).   Roll Eyes

I'll chirp in here myself.  Yes, this new system really is slow!  Why they had to change it, we'll never know?   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Yes, I agree, liked the way it was when we could mouse over the card and get the larger image and info that way.  The new way is the 'not-so-quick view.'

I understand that most "stock agency" websites are implementing this quick view feature. My user preference is to have the mouse over but I was getting tired of it not showing horizontal cards correctly. It always cut off some type of information - whether it was the card itself or the card details.

At least the quick view displays everything correctly.

The Quick View only works in the main marketplace.  If you are in an artist's store the hover way is still there.

Personally I think the Quick View makes the site more professional since nearly all of the larger consumer online locations have this feature, customers must prefer it.

I don't mind it all  Smiley

Doreen,

I didn't realize it was just the shopping view and see that now having closed out my artist store and went in as a customer would.  The quick view was actually taking some time yesterday, but today, pops right up.  Not bad at all and you don't have to continually hold the mouse over the card to view it.

I think once everyone gets used to it, we'll all be fine, especially if it loads as fast as it's doing now.

Best always, Randy

I don't really think it's a question of getting used to it - it is actually much slower and we're all busy people!

Seems like change for changes sake again!  Angry

I don't know?  Seems pretty fast to me and not as aggravating as having the view overlap off the screen in one corner or the other.  I was always having to go off to the side and adjust the page up or down so I could see all of the mouse over view.  And now all the functions are available right in the window as you can see the inside verse, the back or the front and have a large view as well.  Also from the quick view window, you can add the card to your shopping cart.  Very convenient I think for shoppers.

I just went from there to my store, clicking on my artist name and at my store it still uses the mouse over function.  I'm not sure if that is what will happen with a random shopper who wants to see more cards from a particular artist, but I believe it is.

If that is the case, I do believe this quick view application will be a much better format for the shoppers now that I have played with it a bit more.

Best always, Randy

Apart from the speed (or lack of!), it's extra clicks and that's not good.

A well-designed website will keep the number of clicks needed to the minimum from the Health and Safety point of view. I didn't realise how important that was until I had a touch of RSI in my mouse-hand recently.

I've had issues with excessive computer use in my wrists and elbows for years.  The way around it is to be smart about your working environment, making it 100% ergonomic;, learning the proper stretches to reduce the overuse muscle strain and regular breaks.

It's nonsense to state that this is change for change sake.  Businesses need to remain competitive and in the online world, sometimes that means appearance/functionality.  Think as a customer Judy, they don't spend hours clicking away at GCU.

You've asked me to think as a customer, Doreen, and I can honestly say that, as a customer, I'd always prefer a quick hover to having to use a slower method by clicking.

Also, as a customer, I'd be impressed with a site that displayed a badge indicating that this was a well-designed website.

Sorry people, I do not like it either. Time is money!  Wink Anything that can slow down progress is going in the wrong direction for us, and the customer. Just my opinion.  Roll Eyes Besides, just because other sites have this doesn't mean we have to be like those other sites. We are unique, as we should be.

My humble two cents...I don't like it either, especially since a lot of us are artists AND customers.  Plus, I would think sometimes we would just want to be unique and not "like everyone else".
