oh gosh, Doreen!  You really are the best!

I guess I best put my teacher skills into play then!  I've never been one for tooting my own horn but yup, can see how all you mention can make or break a possible deal.

I thank you for taking the time to lay it all out... much appreciated!  I've got some work to do.  Hum... perhaps mom could visit the manager of her fave card shop - she's ALWAYS there - well, at least until I really started in on doing cards LOL

It's always best to start in a store where they are familiar with you, so tell Mom to go for it (assuming your cards fit that store).  It's a 'learned skill' as anything else combined with a bit of 'natural talent'.  Some people are good in sales and others are not, but if you stick with it and use what you know and what skills you have, most can succeed Smiley

GCU cards are a standard size for almost all greeting cards and greeting card racks.  Search for Greeting Card Racks or Displays on Google, you'll find tons.  Compare size, number of cards they hold, pricing etc... and choose.  You can also keep your eye on your local ads for stores closing and selling displays, and EBay often some good deals that way.  A little fresh spray paint and you have a great rack.  Just do your research to find what works for you.

Really great post on steps to get into a retail store, Doreen.  I'm not sure if someone has already done this, but you could turn that into a blog post or squidoo lens or something!  Smiley  I would definitely bookmark it.
