Love & Romance - Just A Thought
Jul 28th, 2011, 10:09am

I noticed very few cards for family (ie: for father, for daughter) have been created for the Love & Romance category.  Maybe it's just me, but I think the reason why is because customers might be turned off from searching for love for family cards in 'Love & Romance'...

I don't know how the two would be separated exactly, but maybe have one category for love and another for romance...or have the main category be "Love" and have sub-categories one for romance, the other for family...just a thought...

I agree! I had that problem with my "sister" cards, I wanted to use the "Love" category without the romance also.

Glad I'm not the only one.

I also noticed that although there is a sister category, there is no brother/niece/nephew etc.

I agree these should be two separate categories. Someone looking for romance will only be interested in romance, not other kinds of love. It looks confusing to me. I bet others think the same when they see these two bunched together.

Love / Romance subcategory is for cards that are not relationship specific but Love and/or Romance in sentiment in General.

For example a Birthday Card for Daughter, ONLY goes in:
Birthday >> For Family Relation Specific >> Daughter

If the same card (for Daughter) has a sentiment of love it CANNOT also go in:
Birthday >> Love / Romance

That is why there are no relationship specific cards found in the >> Love / Romance subcategories.

Hi Mindy, thank you for responding. I'm not sure if we are talking about the same category or not. The Love & Romance section I am talking about is found under:

"Occasions > Love & Romance Cards > For Sister" When a customer sees this lineup they may get the wrong impression...When I first discovered it while browsing GCU as a customer, I was afraid to open up this category because I thought they were going to be incest cards.... Shocked  Smiley

Got it.  Yes I can see where this can be misconstrued.  However splitting up Love and Romance will prove to make for some challenging hair splitting when assessing where a card goes and where to look for cards.  Is it Love?  Is it Romance?  Is it both?

Going out on a limb I'll say that romance is an expression of love but love is not always romantic so they're not clearly separate.  Creating two separate categories I think will only add to the confusion.
