Great work, and I'm happy to see this new feature BUT one thing that doesn't make me the happiest of bunnies is that there was already a custom request in the tool from five days ago, and I never received an email notice from GCU.

Will we be getting email notifications of new requests, or do we have to check multiple times a day?

Corrie

You should receive the email as soon as the customer verifies their email address.  We actually started testing some of the code on our live site around that time so it may have been a bug.  I just sent you a custom card request, please let me know if you get the email.

Maybe the email issues of letting us know a sale was made is the same source causing us not to receive notification of a Custom Request?

That's what I was thinking also but I'm checking with our technical people just to be sure.

i had 4 that were older.  two were requests i had finished a good while back.  we need a delete button or remove button to take these off.  i don't want to contact the buyer when those are finished, and didn't like using the refuse button for them either, how can we remove them and keep a short queue?

I agree with Denise.  I have a list of 19 custom requests all of which show as NEW yet are completed in one way or another.

Which brings me to this suggestion.  In progress makes sense, card uploaded makes sense, order completed makes sense.  The rejected/declined I take it is for the artist to not accept the request, so that's okay, but we need status that shows OUT FOR CUSTOMER APPROVAL/ACCEPTANCE or WITH CUSTOMER.

There will still be those customers who request a custom change through several of us at one time yet only work with 1 of the 4 they contacted.  What many of us have been doing thanks to Corrie's advice is sending a confirmation email before ever working on the request.  It would be great to have some kind of status to reflect the ball is in their court.  In progress is just to vague for me  Grin

Perhaps the answer to what I'm about to ask is self-evident but just not to me:

Where within this tool will a photo uploaded by a customer appear?

At the top of a very lengthy list of obsolete (successful or less-than-satisfyingly concluded) requests, I discovered one new one from several days ago (in the era of delayed/non-existent e-mails). The original message from the customer refers to "these photos", but I see no sign of them (that wouldn't be the first time they were not attached, however). I have responded to ask if the images were sent and am waiting to hear back. Meanwhile, I feel a bit confused by the somewhat overlapping possibilities of "send new message" and "reply". When I "replied", the request shifted into In Progress mode, which was encouraging! When I tried out "send message", it looked as if the customer was sending it. Clicking on "upload" took me to my own create-card interface, which makes sense, but I am wondering how a customer can upload something after the fact.

I'm thrilled and grateful that we've received this function but hoping it can be refined a bit. I also fervently hope that it is the introduction to the set fees/deposit system that has been widely discussed. Even the most polite, friendly communications and clearly worded confirmation still provide no guarantee that the sale will be made after the work has been done.

Thank you for this development, and thanks as well for any answers and clarification concerning its use.

Greetings!

I just wanted to jump in and say that this is a great step forward for the artists and customers to make the custom card request better for all concerned.

I wanted to mention that when I look at my custom requests, it shows that I have 32 requests, on 3 pages, but when I click on the 'next' button to advance the page, I still see the same info as on page 1.  Not much of a concern at this moment as I have no new requests since last week, but, an interesting glitch.

And I would like to request, for those of us (like myself) who have our custom requests set to no, if we could also have a message to customers, like the folks who do accept custom requests?  Such as:  Thank you for your interest in my designs.  Unfortunately I am unable to accept custom requests at this time.  Best regards, name.

And maybe a vacation mode for artists who are unable to take requests for a period of time?  Such as:  Thank you for your interest in my designs.  I am currently on vacation, but will respond to your request when I return on (date.)

I also wanted to agree with Joan, that this would be a perfect time to revisit the fees that have been discussed, but not implemented.

Just thoughts...

Thanks,

Penny Smiley

I saw that Penny said something about being able to set our Custom Requests to "Yes" or "No"... where do we do that?

You can change your Custom Requests to Yes or No under Global Preferences.  You set the number of cards you are willing to customize in there too.  Just make sure you press the save button once you change your settings.  Smiley

Thanks for all of the great feedback.  We're passing all of this on to our programmers to see if any changes can be made.
