To watermark or not? (Read 1432 times)

Angela_151919 Gold Member artist Posts: 552	To watermark or not? Apr 25^th, 2011, 8:19am Does the watermark put off the potential buyers when they are viewing the cards? I know they don't appear on the finished card, but I can't decide whether to have them watermarked or not. What does anyone else think?

Reply #1 - Apr 25^th, 2011, 10:46am I don't use them, I feel it interferes with the image too much and frankly, a watermark isn't going to stop someone from stealing your work if they are determined to be a thief. I too agree with Trish and Eve. I don't use the watermark feature on this site. GCU has enabled Right Click, so that deters some of the people and as Trish said, a watermark isn't going to stop a determined person.

My feeling is that people looking at Greeting Cards don't expect to see a watermark and that audience may not even know what one is. When people look at work on art sites, such as Redbubble or Fine Art America, those are people who are looking at art not someone looking for a birthday card.

In the past I've had NO to watermarks on medium-sized images and YES to them on large images. In response to this thread, I've change that to NO for all sizes. But how do I apply that to images already created? Any ideas?

I do believe if you send an email to the support gang and request it be removed from all, Shaun can do that for you.

I must admit that I don't like the watermarks either & I feel I have made a big mistake putting them on there. I have asked for them all to be removed & I've changed the settings now. This is very new to me, so I really appreciate the help...... and the welcome!
