Getting Noticed
Apr 4th, 2011, 9:07am

SmileyI've discovered the secret to getting noticed on GCU! (this is definitely 'tongue in cheek' in case i offend anyone)  Just put words of a suggestive nature in the title. My most clicked on titles are 'erotic poses' and 'sex education' lol. Just wish I could sell some ha, ha. Grin Grin

That's just misleading and against GCU policy and as you can see you do get the card clicks but the sales don't follow.  undecided

I can't see that the reviewers would allow the cards to be approved with unrelated words in the title so are you changing them after they have been approved? If they are appropriate then no problem.

It's really not good practice to be using unrelated words as it gives customers the run around trying to find the right card for their occasion.

PS I love the artwork on your cards but I do have a question. If they are from old books how do you get around the copyright of the works? Just curious.  Cheesy Maybe I'm being too nozy!  Wink

Hi Karen!
It is always a moment for celebration when one gets an insight.  Wink

It is not only here at GCU. Anywhere, the slightest suggestion to sex triggers the ultimate dynamic curiosity/taboo tension that nobody resists, especially if it can be peeped incognito...

I wish you good luck  . Enjoy the clicks while waiting for the sells which I am sure will come soon.

Yes, I wondered about the copyright issue too.

Hilarious cards!

In answer to the © question, there are thousands of works that fall into public domain. Copyright is long over with & in most cases never renewed. (In some cases the artist was also never credited & by now the publisher long gone.) I can't speak for these pix specifically, but there are thousands of sources for this art.

There are of course exceptions.

YOU ARE RIGHT Karen! The cards that are titled with those types of titles DO get the most attention, LOL, they are super!! I'll bet most customers are a lot like me, they love to see what you have written to go along with your vintage images and read them all, because they're so funny!

I'm so glad that you are using your old books to make these unique cards too! Refurbished history is awesome!

Since there is absolutely no way to find anyone to get permission from in using those old images by now, I'd say you have a wonderful collection of vintage images to use to create all sorts of goodies!

Karen, your cards are hilarious and very unique! Best of luck selling here at GCU!

SmileyThank you all so much for your imput. I have to apoligise for not replying to these posts, but I have
had terrible problems with the forum.( now resolved, thank you Shaun) and haven't been able to access anything.
In answer to your queries, the copyright issue is not a problem because the annuals are about 150 years old and they should definitely be in the public domain by now lol.
With regards your comments Cheryl (133782), I certainly did not intend to mislead anyone, and I have definitely NOT altered any words after the reviewers had ok'd them. I absolutely did NOT think the suggestive titles would get the most clicks and am as surprised as anyone that they have. They just suited the nature of the cards.
Thank you everybody else for your lovely comments...Karen.
