What is the name of this plant?

It's a succulent.  Long long stems, pretty tiny purple clusters, the leaf clusters you can see in the background.  Anyone know what this is?  Thanks in advance!

Susan - thanks for the link, I'll explore it further.  But my initial reaction (beyond realizing that wasn't the plant) was to rememeber that mine has a distinct mentol aroma to it .. if that's any help?

It's a bit difficult to identify because the leaves are obscured by the shallow DOF. It's a lovely image as such but not for botanical identification. If you have another image that shows more of the leaves, you could post that. You could also ask a gardening forum. One example is http://www.flowersforums.com/ .

Peggy,

You mean "menthol" like perpermint smell?  Are the flowers more light blue like your picture or actually purple as you describe.  Can't see the leaves which would be a big help.  Also, is this something you have growing in your yard or someone you know?  I have about every succulent there is, lol, not really, but some people think so.  I need another, got any cuttings?

We'll figure out what it is.  I kind of think Susan is on the right track as the seeds look like the ones Pelargoniums have and they are either part of or related to the family of Geraniums particularly the scented Geraniums with usually white or light bluish purple flowers.  The problem is there are hundreds of varieties.  Even among the scented Geraniums, you have lemon scents, the mints and even a girl's favorite, chocolate.

Anyway, that's what I'm thinking this might be.

I'll look up some more in my gardening books and the sites I use online.

Get a  clear photo of the leaves if you can.

Best always, Randy

here's a wider view of the plant ...

Randy - it's in my yard.  The menthol is a sweet menthol, like vicks.  I'll have to go back to see if it's similar to peppermint in essence.

Well that looks less like a succulant (here I am thinking cacti/jade plant), and more like something in the mint family. I have spearmint that looks more like the wide view.
That other shot looked like it had a geranium type leaf.

I think it's in the Salvia family (rather than a succulent) ... still resesarching ... thanks for the suggestions, it's gotten me this far!

Peggy,

I was kind of thinking along that line as well as I've had several different sages or salvia plants over the years and the flower tufts on some are similar.  There's two to three hundred varieties of these as well and even among the various versions will vary depending on your soil type and micro-climate.
And evolutionists say this all happened by chance.  lol
Here's a good link from the Las Pilitas  Nursery in Escondido that has pictures and links to a lot of the different Salvias.

That sounds about right.
ANd there are so many! New ones get introduced all the time.
I hope you can narrow it down.

Almost certain it is in the mint family.  Based partly on the fact you said it has a mint smell, and the blue flowers and overall look of the flower.  Check the stems.  If the stems are square it is definitely in the mint family as mint is the only plant that has a square stem.

PS
This dos not mean it is not a Salvia.  Salvia is in the mint family as well.
