What should I do with these cute little guys?
Mar 22nd, 2011, 5:44pm

Thought I would throw this out there and get some feedback. These happy little cardinals were for a project that didn't materialize. I want to use them for something - what would YOU like to see me use them for? Ideas?  Occasion/s?
They were painted separately and put together - so I can't actually paint around them. I could create a background - either painted or photoshopped and place them in it. And of course add whatever type.

You can post here on my FB page.

Thanks in advance!

Susan,

They look like a festive bunch of cardinals.  I think they'd make a good party invitation subject or throw another couple in with a big bass and flamingo guitar, a couple of sombreros(those big round mariachi hats) and make a Cinco De Mayo card.  Cardinals singing birthday wishes is another idea.  I love them and think they'd make for a lot of good cards.

Best,  Randy

I first thought:  some sort of inspirational, encouragement, "you can do it!" type of card.  I haven't thought my inspiration through, but I started by thinking "Sing a song of Sixpence" - not just for the blackbirds! ...

Hey Susan - Firstly, I love them! That is such a cute illustration, so glad you decided to do something else with them after the original project didn't eventuate.

I like Randy and Peggy's suggestions. I also thought of a "singing your praises" thank you card?

Best of luck  Smiley

Hi Susan,
They are adorable! I would also consider Christmas since Cardinals are generally a winter bird. And with the scarves they look western to me, so maybe something like "Have a real hootin' Christmas" might work. I also like the idea of birthday, maybe even a congratulations card of some sort.

Susan,
These are so cute they would make adorable cards.
I love all the suggestions so far, they certainly are celebrating, so anything celebrating/party would work and they are popular sellers for the Christmas holidays. I think if you put them around a Christmas tree, even not being in 'Christmas dress', it would work well as they are a symbol of the season.
The one on the left looks like he's serenading to a 'love' up in a window or tree, that would be a cute Valentine.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

So very cute! All the great ideas here make for endless possibilities. I'm with Pamela, the first thing I thought of was a group of musicians walking around a restaurant or outdoor event serenading lovers  Grin

Great for Christmas too, as others said.  You could change that blue in their scarfs to green and walla dressed for the holidays!

I'll really look forward to seeing what you decide to create with them!

so cute. Maybe birthday card or invites for some festive gathering. Perhaps add classic red checked picnic table border and use as a summer barbeque invites. Or maybe a blue and white star decorative border and use it for a 4th of July or memorial or labor day cards or invites etc etc.

If you zazzle I think they'd look cute around a mug. I could go on an on and on.

Good I ideas guys! I like them.
I can easily add characters or change them because they are individually painted and not terribly detailed.
Keep those ideas coming! I'll post the results eventually - have some freelance work with a deadline that needs attention.
Thanks so much!

Good luck with your deadline  Cool

As they are, they'd make a cheer-leading squad. Separate they could be a baseball team, flying kites, driving cars, comics, you name it! I can see these as your trademark that you put in a corner like Mort Drucker! These cute little guys could do a lot for you. Cartoon chars would be fun.

One stands splashed rainbow colors. The second bird says, "I told you, you shouldn't mess around with ....  " and finish the joke.

Supper cute little guys.  The first thoughts that came to my mind were "Happy Bird-day to You!" or a Hoedown Invitation.

I'd say:
Birthday >> Animals / Pets >> Birds
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/Birthday-Animals+Pets-Birds

Birthday >> Humor
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/Birthday-Humor

Invitations >> Party by Theme >> Hoedown / Country Western
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/shopping/cb.asp?cid=12399

And for the musical little guys some composition for:
Occasions >> Congratulations >> Performance / Recital
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/Occasions-Congratulations-Performance+Recita l

And of course any design in a blank note card for:
Collections >> Any Occasion / Blank Note Cards >> Animals / Pets >> Birds
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/Collections-Any+Occasion+Blank+Note+Cards-An imals+Pets-Birds

Collections >> Any Occasion / Blank Note Cards >> Music & Dance
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/Collections-Any+Occasion+Blank+Note+Cards-Mu sic+and+Dance

Happy creating!  Smiley

Oh, Susan BTW...in Internet Explorer your forum / artist profile image is broken.  We suspect they are not RGB, so when you have time you might want to update/edit the file and re-upload your image for all to enjoy  Smiley

Cute Ideas Mindy.
Has that always been that way? It shows up fine on my Firefox & Safari.
That is really strange stuff - does it show up on my store or is it broken there? I know some times the FB link is hinky. It's the same one I've used since I joined last July. You'd think someone would have pointed that out before now?

Aha!  I see you now on IE Smiley  Yes, it impacted both your forum identity and storefront.  Can't recall if it's been an issue before, I usually use Firefox but not today.

That's good. Silly IE.
Does it affect my shop link in my forum answers? - 'cause that's sort of hinky too.
