Store Restoration!
Mar 4th, 2011, 5:44am

I want to give my best thanks and gratitude for all the staff and technical support's help in restoring my store and all my cards after my store was taken over and deleted. While traveling I finally got to a computer and went to check on my site only to find it no longer existed. I was in a major panic only to be told not to worry, technical support would get on it right away and restore it ... and sure enough ... didn't even take 24 hours ... my store is back intact ....

SWEET Thank You card to Administrators!
That would be quite alarming, so glad you had a good outcome to a raw deal.

Shocked Shocked Shocked

How frightening!  I am so glad that the pros at GCU came to your aid and fixed everything up.  Whew!

Was this a hack, or had you given a supposedly trusted person your password?  And if a hack, do you think it was random, or were you chosen on purpose?

What I'm getting at - do other store owners have to worry?

Hi Peggy,
I believe it was a trusted person....although I don't know for sure.....so please...I don't believe that store owners have anything to worry about!

After thinking about this event...I was wondering if anyone else thought it would be nice to have sort of a failsafe password in order to delete your account, images or products. For those of us that do trust other people access to our stores, it would be a unique password (only known to the owner) to be used only in the event of deletions. If you the owner are going to do a series of deletions and don't want to be bothered with the password popup while you are working...it should be able to be disabled with the failsafe password and then once you have completed your work, the failsafe password is enabled once again.

Any thoughts on this!

Thanks Renae, glad we could help out in your time of need & panic  Smiley

Although a good suggestion re: a second level passcode we don't plan on putting this in place for a few reasons...
1. your account is the first instance we've had w/ unauthorized removal
2. if you've entrusted your password to someone you'd likely entrust the passcode as well

Glad to say this isn't a widespread issue.  Smiley

I agree with Mindy, just don't give out your passwords. You can't trust anyone these days. My husband doesn't even know mine and we've been married for 19 years. I would find extra passwords to be a burden instead of a help. I have enough to keep up with as it is. Sorry, I just don't agree with this one.

Renae,
Happy to see you back on!  Sorry about the trouble, but looks like it all worked out!  Hope Richard's doing well and surviving the casino circuit!  Still would like to take a trip up to Vegas, Tahoe or Reno to see him if I had a chance.
Best always, Randy
