Shipping to Toronto, Canada
Feb 3rd, 2011, 2:30pm

I am rather disappointed in the 'shipping' time from GCU to Toronto.  In the past it has taken about 7 days to receive my orders.  So, working on that time line, I added an extra week, and my cards were 'shipped' on January 14th.  It is now February 3rd, and there is no sign of my order.  One card I designed and ordered was for my fathers birthday overseas.  I assumed it would arrive by at least the last week of January, giving me ample time to mail to to NZ.

When I sent off an email, I was told it could take 20 days??? Hello???  It takes my mail at the most, 10 days to reach New Zealand from Canada???  And then I was told that if it did not show up in the next two days (that being today) they would send me a replacement order....... so that the card I wanted to send to NZ to get their by the 13th of Feb would show up here, when?????

I don't usually have a problem with shipping times at all.. but lately it seems to be getting worse and worse, and I have told friends who live in Canada that they need to order WAY ahead now if they want their cards to turn up on time.  NOT good customer service.   Why does it take so long?  I get and send mail to the UK that gets there quicker than items from GCU?

I am really disappointed, and may just go back to making home made cards for my family and friends.
And such a shame, because I know they love the cards!

Could the horrible weather we are experiencing be a factor in the trucks not getting through and airports shut down?  Possibly it was coincidental.

Also, for what it's worth, the changes to shipping inspections that began late November I believe for anything coming into the U.S. has made the deliveries I get sent from Canada to me in the states go from an average of 3-weeks to now closer to 6-weeks before they get here.

I’m very sorry to hear that you have not received your order and that you’re not satisfied with GCU’s customer service. We do state that all international orders may take 7-20 business days for delivery. This however does not mean it should or will take all 20 business days. We’ve seen instances where delivery has taken 7 days and we’ve also seen cases where delivery took 20 days.

We state 7-20 business days because unfortunately, once it is in USPS hands there are a number of factors that can influence delivery time. Customs may hold on to one order longer than the next. Weather conditions may also delay a package.  In some rare cases, orders that have the correct address are still returned to us stating insufficient address.

We are more than happy to resolve these matters in a way that works best for you.

I understand the weather.. etc.. but I have had this happen recently.. and have a few cards that got thrown out because they never made it here in time even with an extra 10 day time frame when ordering.

Prior to that, they always turned up around 7 days or slightly more...weather regardless. ( And I have found the same time frame for other packages I have sent to the USA from here.)

To me, international shipping from the USA would be Europe, Asia, Australasia.. not across the border to Canada??

If I have to start planning my own cards 6 months in advance, so be it... but are other Canadian shoppers aware they might not get their orders for weeks or more???

Other than that.. I do actually love GCU!!!  Just a bit annoyed right now.
