I wonder if Admin isn't attempting to lock down the forums as there has been a great number of spammers getting on and posting links to their disgusting sites.
 
But yes, I haven't gotten any messages either.

Just letting you know, I have been getting Forum notifications the last couple of days.  
I do occasionally get one that has a bunch of mixed up alphabet letters in the subject line.  I went to one and it said something about "asian porn".... not doing that again.  SO I no longer open up a Forum notification unless it has a real subject.

Yes, this spam business most irritating to us, and GCU I believe.

As I understand it you are fine to open the email notification that takes you to the thread on the forum,
but it is ONLY if you click on the link posted in the message (usually in highlighted letters) you run the risk of opening yourself up to viruses, etc.  
 
Is that what you understand to be correct? I would hate for anyone to be alarmed because they only opened the email and did not click on the link.
 
Also, seems a good time to put forward a point Doreen said in another post, she said if you see the jumbled letters forum notification just delete it because opening it and going to that thread just keeps it live.  
Another good reason to delete it.

I've experienced not getting email notifications too last December. I wondered at that time because I know GCU has an active forum with posts everyday. So when days past, I tried to look around and there were the forum post, it went directly to my SPAM folder of my email. I haven't done anything in my email to make it send the notifications to my spam folder.
 
I tried to solve it by inserting the email address of the GCU Forum to my address book and from then on I revceived the notifications in my Inbox.
 
 
About clicking the link of the forum post of the email notifications, I was usually sent to the ERROR page of the Forum with a message "You cannot accessed this section." And until now I've been wondering why that happens since I've also read in the forum that the forum itself is open to the public.

Well, as I understand it...
 
You must be a member to post on the forum and anyone can become a member.  That's why we always have to login to post.
 
So, it is visible via search engines to the public as are most if not all forums and that's what is meant by public...the public can VIEW it, but without creating an account here, the public CAN NOT post on this forum.
 
It suggests that the spammer or two created accounts and then sent those accounts to the electronic engines that they use to send out the spam.
 
Just my own thoughts on the subject  
 

Hi Pamela-I was having the same problem-without changing settings everything from gcu was going into my spam folder. Then all of a sudden it went back to normal!

Glad to hear that some of you are getting your notifications again.  For anyone that is no longer receiving notifications, can you please check your spam folders to see if they are landing there?
