Advanced Spell-checking using Card Details Export

Below is a link to a short video on using the Card Details export function recently added for Artists.
The data that is downloaded can be used in many ways, one of which is to do a spell-check of all of your cards at once. VERY POWERFUL!

Short Video Example

I was shocked at how many spelling errors my cards still had; about half being in the title or verse, and the other half in keywords. Clearly cards with spelling errors in the title might not ever be clicked and cards with spelling errors in the inside verse may never be sold. That is tragic, as we all put a lot of work into each card.

I plan to fix these before designing more cards. Likely a full day’s work to get all these cards back in shape but well worth it in the long run.

I’ll do other videos on how to use this data, as I think it can be quite useful. For instance, one can sort by the best sellers to see if the titles, keywords, and a great inner verse are common characteristics of these “winners” and then look at the losers and see it the opposite is true.

Great idea Tom! Thanks for sharing and making the video on what you did! I have asked for the spell check in GCU to underline our Titles & Keywords and I know its on the list somewhere. I am forever going back and reviewing a card and finding a typo in my title or keywords.

This is a great tool to do that globally and so much easier than trying to check each one with my eyes Grin

This way the spell checker won't stop on words it does not recognize for fonts, category names, and so forth. Just do the title, keyword, and inner verse columns. Of course I think of this AFTER I just got done.

Great idea Tom. I use Photoshop and I try to remember to use the spell check feature before I finish my design but I do forget sometimes. And yes, I'm sure they sometimes slip past in the review and you need to go back and correct the front of the card...which is very frustrating to say the least. I'll be checking out my spelling this week end using your method. Thanks!

Hi Tom,

I am relatively new here at GCU. Even though I have signed on a few months ago and created a few cards already, I looked at the videos you created and found them very helpful, especially the 3x images rule one. Thank you for creating the videos, the survey results from the artists as well as the review teams and the spell check tip.

I always check and recheck my spelling, but I decided I will take the time to do this. I had three words that I misspelled more than once! Thanks so much for all your effort.

In my check, I was stunned by the number and types of typos that slipped through. Some of my cards I had high hopes for, but they didn't sell, and spelling errors were the reason I'm pretty sure.
