Card Review Team Survey Results on Error types
Dec 29th, 2010, 11:22pm

Like the 2 Artist surveys I ran over the last few weeks, I also made one for the card review team to take.  I received all of their data back yesterday and compiled it in terms of error area severity as it relates to "time-to-resolve."

For instance, they see a lot of spelling errors but these do not take a lot of extra time to process over those cards with no spelling errors ... just a few more seconds are needed to send it back for edits along with a note.

However, an Image Rights or 3x rule violation can take many minutes to resolve, and sometimes can even take hours!   They could have approved over 100 cards in an hour, but one card with a questionable image source can put everything on hold while they research info for just one card!  (Please do not use art or verses you do not have the rights to use!!)

The chart below shows a pretty even spread of each of the primary error areas.  Solutions to resolve all of these to some degree have been compiled as well, using data and ideas from all the surveys and your comments here in the forum.  Thank you!

GCU, I'm sure, is now pulling all-nighters in their War Room to attack each of these core areas using our ideas.   Cool

Actually, they are taking this feedback very seriously, which is a good sign.

I plan to continue with the videos until they tell me to stop.  I'm working on a keywording one now.

Thanks all!

TOM

Dear Tom and GCU Team,

This work is so important to everyone who shares in making GCU a success, especially as we grow.  I was a middle management manager for many years, and creating an environment where all people can look with clear eyes at an issue, and identify positive ways to circumvent them going forward, is a TON of work.

This is an exceptional effort with helpful results.

I look forward to future videos and graphs, etc.  They are the result of people who work for GCU and artists who post their cards on GCU - teamwork!  Tom deserves a round of applause from all of us for his heavy, heavy lifting.  GCU deserves the same.  They didn't get defensive and irritated; they jumped into the effort with both feet.

Thank you all!

Fantastic data Tom. Great insight to see what actually is a problem area for the review team.

Hi Tom!  I've been pretty much unplugged for a while now, but thanks to hubby and my new computer for xmas, I'm back.  So nice to find you too are back among us, Tom!  Your pie chart is quite enlightening.  I'm afraid one of my biggest hangups is that 'second category.'  I'm always and forever fogetting to consider one when appropriate.   Tongue
Thanks for the great input!  (per usual)

Tom, thanks for all the surveys and information.

It just took 15 days for me to have a single card go to the first round of approval - get rejected because of (what I feel to be) a subjective lack of interior content, and then take 9 more days to get rechecked for the one word addition. I'm not complaining because the holidays are busy times but over 3 weeks to wait for one card?

I like your ideas about bulk versus single submissions approvals.

That all said, did you do a chart on approval turnaround time (if you did, I missed it)?

Happy New Year!
Mishka

Hi Mishka,

Your resubmitted card approval will not take that long.  The general daily routine by each reviewer is to clear the fast-tracked cards, which there are usually very few of per day, then do the resubmits, then hit the mountain of first time submissions.

I don't have access to the data needed to answer the question on current approval times, but I have been measuring the daily number of cards approved per day which is running at about 250, and the backlog is well under 3000 cards now finally, and it got close to 2000 the other day.
