Might I suggest a breakdown by "class" instead of breed...it would be much smaller list...lol

And I didn't see on the list my puppies' breed....  MUTT  Tongue

Yes, it is quite lengthy.  Good suggestion, thought about class but your average person likely won't know which class to look under for their favorite breed either.  May add the most popular ones for now and leave "Other" as we usually do until it grows and different breeds justify a subcategory of their own.

Added, Mutt / Mixed Breed  Smiley

It would be very easy to break down by Group rather than class.  AKC has 7 groups and many people know do know what groups dogs are classified in by the characteristics of the dogs.  In fact some of the groups are pretty self explanatory as you can see below.

The groups are Working, Hound, Terrier, Toy, Herding, Sporting and Non-Sporting.

The AKC website can help with classifying what breed goes in what group or I am happy to email a dog show premium list that spells out which breeds are in what group.

I for one will be putting up cards for many of the more unusual breeds since I have many drawings of those as well as the more popular ones.  People with unusual breeds do not have a lot of places to go to find products representing their breed. When they find something, they are buyers.

Yep, it's a long list!  I use the full list on some of my other sites for SEO - catch those Musterlander searchers who might overlook an "other" category - but that's what my keywords, title and descriptions HERE are for, right!  Wink

MINDY - do I have to go back and recat my cards, or will my keywords suffice?

Populating the categories:  doing my best!  Like Cori I also enjoy the lesser known breeds.  I just recently photographed my first Leonbergers, Welsh Terriers and Irish Terriers.  Wheeee!

Just a suggestion...the list of dogs can go on forever...you may want to group them first by:
Herding Dogs
Hound Dogs
Mixed Breeds/Designer Dogs
Non-Sporting Dogs
Sporting Dogs
Terrier Dogs
Toy Dogs
Working Dogs

Hi Mindy

Fab!
May I just point out Dalmatian is spelled with an A and not an O though, if that could be put right please because most of my dog cards feature my beautiful spotted boy, people looking for Dalmatians by keyword won`t get to find them otherwise. All sales of my cards featuring my Dalmatian I am giving 100% artist commission to the animal hospital that tried to save his life last january, so I would like them to have a fair chance of getting seen by possible buyers Wink
People visiting my store can see them by typing "domino" into the search box, but elsewhere on site it would be nice for them to at least get fair exposure.
Thanks.
Karen

Updated per AKC breeds and a handful of others.  We'll roll with this for a while and keep an eye on Other to see if other breeds need a home of their own.  Smiley

Thanks, Mindy - I've noticed more and more subcats that had the breed list.  I do remember not seeing one of the akc dogs listed, but can't remember now which one (so I used other) ... I'll keep my eyes open as I design/upload more.  THANK YOU for this!

Not Collections >> Animals / Pets >> Dogs but Collections >> Any Occasion / Blank Note Cards >> Animals / Pets >> Dogs will be the next to be broken out.

thanks, Mindy - I mistook your meaning and didn't realize the updating was still in progress.  I'll go back into the doghouse now (don't worry, I have a computer and camera there - ha)!
